SOURCE: ignition module?

I had the same problem with my 1992 Transport. I fixed it by replacing the ignition module which took about 20 minutes, and should be easily accomplished by anyone with moderate repair skills. The problem with mine faulty ignition module was resolved temporarily by unplugging/re-plugging it from the computer (under the dash), or unplugging/re-plugging it from the distributor assembly harness. Every time I reseated the connector, the engine started up fine. I could also let the engine set a while, and it would restart. However, when it was decided to fail, there was no fuel being injected into the engine. This is logical since the ignition module tracks the engine RPM and sends this data to the computer to tell it how much fuel to inject. Check your fuel injectors when you crack it over when you experience the problem, and if you get no fuel, it's likely your ignition module. I think i paid 30 bucks at autozone for a new one.

see if the crank position sensor connector is clean and tight, if the sensor or connector is bad, this will cause the engine to lose spark.

What do you think is wrong

intermittents are sometimes hard to diagnose out !! and this seems as one , im curious though what made them wiggle the relays and fuses ?? was there a previous problem there ?? depending on year of manufacture of car , is weather or not the cars own pcu can help diagnose what made car stop , as later models "remember " what there last condition was that shut off engine , of course this requires diagnostic equipment to see this info that typically car owners don't own , but a qualified service tech does and knows how to use it to find your problem

I think you have a leaking headgasket or a coolant leak. Have the cooling system pressure tested first, if no external leaks show up then you have a possible leaking headgasket.

There are 2 cooling hoses that go to the radiator from the transmission. Hopefully it's one of these. The hoses are at the front of the vehicle or the right side standing in front of the vehicle. the stretch across the front to the left side. They are mostly metal ,but there is some rubber hose to it. The hoses connect to the radiator on the left side at the top and bottom of the radiator. If the hose blew out you can fix this with some new transmission hose. You will need a tube cutter, two hose clamps,a screwdriver, a razor blade/knife and 2 feet of hose just to be safe. Cut the metal tubing on each side of the rubber hose, cut enough new hose to go in it's place and use the hose clamps to secure it. If for some reason the metal tubing is bad, rust, you can do the same thing.

Sounds like you have moisture getting into your ignition somewhere. Have your mechanic look at it again but have him water down engine compartment, little at a time.

I have a ford 2001 windstar. the other day the temp gauge went close to High. After an hour of sitting while we went shopping. It didn't move from normal on the way home. we added 1-1/2 gallons of water...

If you absolutely need to drive the van without having it serviced ensure your coolant/water is topped off prior to setting out. Make sure you have LOTS of water on hand to top it off if needed and keep a very close eye on your temperature gauge. You should also stop every few hours even if the temperature gauge stays in the "normal" range to ensure its operating at the correct temperature. There could be a few things wrong with the van, but damage to the radiator or cracked hoses could be likely culprits.

That being said I wouldn't recommend any long trips before having this issue fixed.

Sounds like a bad blower motor resistor, or if you have electronic temp control, a bad control unit.
