This car has 250000 miles on it but I keep all maint. up and everything else is fine. My wife drove the car a few miles and back the other nite no problem, when I attempted to start it next AM it would not even turn over. No click no nothing. Checked battery which is 1 year old interstate it has full charge everything else accs. ect. appear ok. Any Ideas? Thanks
Hey Gordon,
Remove your battery, take it to O'Reilly's, AutoZone, etc.. have them check the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps)-load test.
.. this is what makes your car crank.>Amperage< ... 12+ volts might run the lights.. but just voltage WILL NOT crank your car.. the age of the battery doesn't matter either..

If the starter is turning the engine, try re-setting the security system (leave key on till light stops blinking.) If the starter does not turn, you may have some success in re-setting system, if not you need to check battery voltage and voltages in starter system till you find the problem...can be something as simple as a bad connection at the battery. If you need help with further testing, just ask.

Any car with a Factory Anti-Theft System does this whenever battery power is lost. If your owners manual doesn't address this, you will have to contact a GM Dealer to get the system reset. Sorry!

sounds like a bad starter motor, autozone will test it free out of car.
it is a royal pain to get the starter out so pay close attention so it will be easier going back in.
Sounds like a bad starter or a bad battery cable connection to me. If you are certain that tyour battery is in good condition and fully charged, your battery cables are clean and tight and are making good connection on BOTH ends, replace the starter.

It could be the battery cables because they can build up acid inside the wire causing problems. The next time it does this take a hammer and tap on the center of the starter housing it could be the bendix bad in the starter.
