I have a 2000 Honda Accord V6 with 210,000 miles on it, recently 3rd gear has started slipping, my mechanic told me to replace the transmission which I am prepared to do, however what is a good price range for this service, and should I be concerned about anything else while doing this?

Before you waste money on the mechanics word , take it to a professional auto transmission shop for a proper diagnosis and quote
if only one gear has a problem , it indicates a possible clutch pack / band adjustment or solenoid /servo problem or even dirty oil

what i suggest i can suggest is, buy a clear sealant, and seal the sides of the headlights.

the reason why is air can creep in tha lamps that's why it gets moisture (foggy) and dirty.

hope it helps.

This transmission have shift solenoids that are mounted on the outside in my personal experience I have rectified shift problem with these transmissions by simply change a solenoid or two. My recommendation is to put this vehicle on a code scanner and find out what is at fault first. If its a solenoid just replace, they are a dealer only part and that should take care of your problem. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: 1986 Honda Accord lx clutch slips a little and is

Well it sounds like you have got a clutch problem and so to check all you do is.....
1 Dose the clutch start to drive about 2"from the top.
2,Dose it grind going into Reverse gear ,and when you go to overtake another car the engine starts reving but you dont go any faster.. (yes)
Take it in to the garage and get a new clutch assy fitted (its the only way. let me know how you go

SOURCE: I have a 2000 Honda Accord with 183,000 miles on

With that mileage I would find an additive for the transmission. Ask you parts store for the bestt. I cannot mention products by name but there are additives that are quite effective. Might save you some time and give you a chance to dump the car. Do not change fluid that may be the end for sure. Now is the time when you need a little sludge in the transmission fluid. Transmission work on a Honda is not cheap.

SOURCE: My 1999 Honda Accord V6

Servicing refers to changing the trans fluid only

That is not a fix for anything

The fluid gets changed on ALL vehicles
every 30,000 miles ONLY because it breaks
down from the heat

Removing the heat is it's main job

I can not even imagine a transaxle going
300,000 k or 180,000 miles

I was in the trans repair business once &
have never seen that.

It doesn't owe you anything, if you rebuild it
in the future

I would not flat tow it though, your turning the
diff & other components, that's not good

Testimonial: "Thanks for the advice. I assure you I have put every kilometer on this car since I bought it new, Towing has not been an issue.Sounds like replacement"

2000 Honda Accord 2.3 VTec engine, 4 cylinder, 5 speed stuck in reverse?

USA spec car in USA? not told
2.3L inline 4 banger.DOHC +VVT cam. 5sp, M/T
nor real name of the box told.
Vtec is honda name for VVT, valve variable timing, and is not a transmission part at all so is off topic if we want to do 1 at a time.
a wise idea that, leaks are your problem.as all are.
your post seem clueless, here, find a real shop and get it fixed?
vtech bad causes huge engine power loss, for sure stuck in idle mode. so lets end that here.
and talk the box, what box 5 speed is it
not told at all
honda says 5speed is a manual transmission M/T
the silly cable to it is bad.
end story, endless.
2 cables clutch release snapped i gear. makes it hard to shift if you do not move car bay hand to N./ (a trick to lean 2 man job) as all tow truck drivers know for 100 years.
shift cable bad. (or levers to it)
see this first photo , one can drop off links to that #8 part and shift the box by hand, sure can and if can the box end is good .
box means transmission box in whole.,, mech jargon.
all this is pure mechanics 101 problem shifting any M/T is.
photo 2 is lever #2 id and cable set 6
one if bad, looking only finds it as is 100% pure mechanical parts.
end to end. no brains no CPU or TCM brains here, just real gears and levers and flex steel cables that love to fail not lubed regular.

I have a 2000 honda accord with 170000 miles on with rev problems

The transmission filter should be changed at least every 30,000 miles if that hasn't been the case. Replacing the filter may fix the problem, otherwise it will need to be repaired.

I have a 1994 honda accord, 88k miles on it. My car slips as it tried to shift gears. It just started this today. Whats going on and what should I do to fix it?

if it is a standard transmission get ready to replace the clutch. if it is an automatic transmission check the transmission fluid make sure it is where it needs to be if it still has a problem. have it flushed and filter replaced. if it still slips you may need to have it rebuilt/ or replaced.

Slips between gears.

well I guess I will say change the fluid again and change the filter- you simply do not have enough miles to be transmission failure- so my guess wil be the shift solenoid as well - contact dealer to confirm. They will have to change with solenoid anyway.I sold my last honda with 275,000 miles and it had a hard life- no issues ever
