SOURCE: 2000 vw Jetta TDI transmission fluid change

Lifetime for VW means warranty limit of 100,000 miles. Like any transmission, it needs to be changed. Since there is no drain plug, you merely 1)remove the road shield, 2)remove the four bolts holding FULL pan of fluid, 3)and carefully tip out fluid into handy preplaced container for disposal. Then clean all the filth and replace the filter pan and gasket. Finally clip the filler fitting plastic so it can be extricated and fill with fluid to overflow. Use the Automax fluid hand pump if you don't have the special VW Tool. Run car in idle and shift through gears for a few minutes to fill all internal passages and top of again with fluid. You're good for another 100,000 miles! (I use an american tie wrap to replace the little plastic I clipped from the VW fill plug).

2001 vw jetta changing trans oil

Your 2001 VW Jetta is likely equipped with a "sealed" transmission unit. There is no dipstick that you can use to measure the level of transmission fluid in sealed transmissions. Unfortunately, it's a dealer item that needs to be addressed by a qualified mechanic or at a VW dealer.

How do you add transmission fluid to a 2007 VW Jetta 2.5L?

There is a brass colored plug facing skyward on the left (US driver's) side at the rear of the 6 speed automatic transmission. This plug is removed with a Torx tool (I cannot recall but is in the range of a #40). This plug provides a direct access to the case of the transmission and if you can find a suitable small funnel (I made an adapter) with a small piece of fuel line, etc. you can introduce ATF into the tranny. The transmission holds about 5 liters of special VW fluid. All the transmission experts I have talked to say to use the VW fluid. It is expensive but less expensive than a new valve body, etc. There is a overflow tower in the drain plug. I changed the fluid by dropping the pan. There is a magnetic plate trap in the pan. It will be covered with metallic particles. VW is dead wrong about "fluid for life". Change it at 80K to 85K miles.

How to check transmission fluid level

Most 1995-on VW models don't have a transmission fluid dipstick for checking the transmission fluid level. To fill and check the level of the VW automatic transmission fluid you have to remove a plug on the side or bottom (location depends on model and if you have an automatic vs. manual transmission) of the transmission drain pan. The factory manual refers the expensive VAG 1924 special tool for pumping the VW automatic transmission fluid into the oil pan.

How do i check the tranny fluid level in my 2001 jetta

The average consumer cannot check transmission fluid in the 2000 VW jetta. You must go to a dealership for this service. The problematic transmissions are factory sealed and touted to be 'maintenance free' with the fluid port capped by the manufacturer. The 2000 Jettas (as well as other model years) are notorious for early transmission replacement. Do not expect the VW corp to take care of any transmission issues unless you force them to.

Transmission fluid for vw jetta

Go to volkswagen for the fluid.
I am assuming you are talking about an automatic transmission? if so any aftermarket fluid will make short work of your transmission.

if you are talking about a manual transaxle..then I hear good things about Redlines' MT fluid

2006 Jetta TDI Tiptronic Maintenance

The tiptronic is not the DSG - two separate transmissions. You don't need to service the tiptronic every 40k like you do the DSG.
VW considers the fluid in a Tiptronic tranny as "lifetime" fluid - it doesn't need to be changed.
