I have a 2000 nissan xterra v6 2wd and it has lost oil pressure. I
was driving home from work one day and the oil light came on and heard
ticking from the engine. I stopped at auto zone and added a quart,
but noticed the oil pan leaking severely. I assumed that the gasket
was bad so i had it replaced. didnt fix it. leak is not as bad but
there is still no pressure. I would assume the oil sending screen is
clogged, but not sure, as the guy didnt bother to check while the pan
was off. I went ahead and ordered an oil pump from nissan. these
things would be my guess, but im no mechanic. Any ideas???
also how much should the repair cost?
Inner timing cover y shaped oil gallery gaskets..make your own or order the complete cover..costs from nissan are 500 canadian for the cover and around 1500 total for the replacement.oil pressure goes back up immediately after the install..alot of work to replace a cheezy piece of paper...
