I have golf 3.0 and it is overheating, I replaced the Thermostat it doesn't look like the Radiator fan is not tuning on could that be the the Coolant temp Sensor not triping the fan on or could it be the Fan
Also is the Collant Temp Sensor undernoth the back of the engine Passenger side
The system is the coolant temp sensor which reports to the ECM which operates a relay to turn on the fan
there are 2 fuses in the system
could be a fuse , sensor , relay or fan
easiest way is to get power directly to the fan first , then check the system fuses , then replace the relay leaving the sensor to the last

there is a strong possibility that the impellers on the waterpump are broken!!!!. they are made out of plastic and are notorious for breaking. ck this first have seen it countless times. make sure new waterpump has metal impellers.

there should be a petcock on the bottom of the radiator if not just disconnect the lower rad hose
