My 2003 Olds Silhouette pings with every gas octane. under load or not. Have any idea? It is not thriwing out a code and it has a new PCM.

Sorry, it is anytime you press the gas, not at idle, and sometimes while cruising. It is not all the time. There will be a day that it works great then next time ping.

Ping only occurs under load. If there is a noise present when the vehicle is not under load it is not ping and possibly something more serious. Here's what I recommend. Call around to some local shops and see if they will listen to a noise and how much it would cost. And experienced ear will be able to tell what exactly the noise is or at least narrow down the possibilities. Once you know what the noise is post it in this question and I'll see if there is anything I can suggest to help you out. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Which gas is better to use in a 2003 Honda Accord v6

If you are using 91 octane and there are problems with performance and economy and pinging in the engine under acceleration then shift up to 98 octane . I would steer clear of any e- fuels as they are not doing the job generally. Any Honda hand book will have the recommended octane rating for your engine.

Can an 2005 acura run safely on regular gas

The only reason to run higher octane fuels to to reduce the chance of (engine ping) or (engine knock).Try the regular gas(dont completely fill car) and take notice under hard acceleration if engine makes a pinging noise. If pinging happens then add some high octane gas to compensate for regular.Unless this is a modified engine the regular gas will not do any damage it will result in pinging and loss of fuel milelage.

I would change the fuel filter anyway. Fuel filter problem manifest under a load usually. It is easy to do and cheap. This will eliminate one possible cause for your lack of power. Another reason may be your timing. If it pings going up hill also, you can ****** the timing a couple of degrees and/or try some fuel additive or higher octane gas or octane booster.

V70 d5 2002 volvo pinking under load

Thes is called a spark ping because of burning a lower octane of gas. I would try a higher octane and also injection cleaner. Hope this fixes your problem.

2003 stype jaguar chek engine light went after low octane gas was put in

thats because of spark knock which can damage the engine(pinging). if you have not hurt any thing, immediatly put in some octane booster and then premium fuel. also keep your foot out of it to keep the load off the engine to reduce pinging until the yucky gas is gone. the light should go out on its own when the correct octane fuel is in use. dont use anything lower than 91 octane in it or ull b sorry...

do not use any fuel additives at all. and only use 87 octane fuel nothing higher. 4.6 and 5.4 ford engines do have a pinging sound especially with a load. but it is normal
