2000 Dodge Stratus Se

I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus SE. I replaced the water pump, timing belt, Spark plugs, and Plug wires. It loabs at idol. Runs great going through gears except when you cruse you feel the loab real light. Took it to O"Railly's Auto Parts had them test it Said Nothing Wrong. Any advise would be helpful. OtiscoBill

I think you are talking about it idling rough. like as if it almost wants to turn off? If so you might have the same problem that I do. I ran an OBDII scanner. I got this code "P0172" Fuel mixture too rich. From what I gathered there is something wrong in the oxygen fuel mixture, in order to compensate your main computer pumps more fuel in order to keep the car running (i think). Technically there might not be anything wrong mechanically, it just might be a sensor like the Oxygen Sensor, EGR, or something else.... There is a whole list of things to check if you get this code....

So if by "loabs" you mean that ur car idles rough then this might be the problem... hope that gives you some light on your situation...

Sounds to me like the timing might be a little off. after changing the timing belt did u recheck the timing to make sure it was good to go?

I think your distributor gave up,pull spark plug wire from spark plug stick a screw driver and check for sparks if you don't see spark replace your distributor you can get one from ebay it comes with cap and rotor, good luck.

I have a 2007 Dodge Stratus, it died while I was driving it on the road at 65 mph. and will not restart...

sounds like a wiring problem, will it crank over? you may have burnt a fuse or a fusible link, you may have burnt through a part of the wiring harness etc.

Were is the block heater cord on 2000 dodge stratus SE if there is one ??

The engine block heater is an option on most vehicles...Usually not checked off on the order form unless the car was originally designed to be sold in the severe snow and cold belt...If your Stratus has this option...the 12 volt plug would be near the top of the radiator for ease of service...You can pay to have a block heater added...but aftermarket units are not as reliable as the manufacturer...:)

My 2000 dodge stratus starting overheating every other week due to water pump failing. before it was replaced it got hot pulled over it started to shake then stulled. Replaced water pump did timing belt...

Most likely a cracked head or block '
When engines overheat the heads warp and something has to give. Even with just one overheating incident the heads can warp. You say you changed the timing belt, I think you mean the belt that runs the alternator and water pump. Big difference there. You might be able to save the engine with a big overhaul by pulling the heads and having them boiled out and pressure tested for cracks. It is also possible that the engine blocked cracked in which case you are looking at about $2000.00 to replace the engine. Oil on the plugs usually means water in the oil and oil in the water. If all those things are going on it looks like a disaster.

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus SE 4 door with an X in the VIN number. It died driving doen the highway cause the timing belt slipped off. Just replaced the timing belt, idler and tensioner. Now the car cranks...

First thing you want to check is if the rotor on the distributor is at the #1 plug wire when the #1 cylinder is at top dead center. This will ensure the timing is set correctly.
