The problem you are experiencing is a common one for mechanics in the field as well.
Not all code checkers and scanners have the proprietary information available.
Makers of this type of equipment need to pay to allow them to include this capability in the tool.
So in order to make the tool less expensive, they haven't included this in your tool.
All computer information in late model cars is accessed through the OBD connector.
In order for you to get it scanned you will need to hook up to a scanner capable of this for your car.
