Hi you have a worn camshaft it always makes noise when worn the tapping sounds louder when you accelerate.its important to have regular oil changes as the oil ways can become blocked and lead to this type of trouble if oil changes are over looked.also check for worn big end bearings that connect the pistons to the crank shaft.

I have a 2002 Subaru Legacy GT Limited. At 80,000 miles I had to replace head gasket, timing belt and water pump. Now at 185000 miles the engine seems to be making a lot more noise, more it seems when I...

I'm making a guess that if this is a noise that gets better (but doesn't go away) once the car has warmed up, you probably have one or more tappets that are out of adjustment. I have a feeling that they are hydraulic tappets on this vehicle. You are going to have to either try to trace the offending ones or swap out the lot if they are hydraulic.

My 1989 legacy will start, idle but it wont run properly. There are no fault codes coming up on dash. Is it the water temperature sensor?

hi this sounds like the throttle position sensor as these dont trigger an error code or engine light when they start to go, anything else like fuel pump or knock/cam sensors or relay will. secondly it could be a coil pack causing it to miss/**** quite a bit

1968 MGC GT 4 speed with O/D Engine running, vehicle out of gear and with the foot off the clutch, there is quite a rumbling noise. Depress the clutch and the whole thing goes wonderfully quite? Is this...

It must be the first motion shaft bearing, the clutch thrust would be noisy and slow the tick over when you depress the clutch if it was faulty. If the car has ever been left standing the first motion shaft bearing can dry out and rust a bit then go noisy with use, does it growl in use?
