SOURCE: windscreen wipers wont turn off and interiour clock no display ??

I think from memory they have a rain sensor...could be it's damaged. See your local MMC dealer with your full chassis number and they might be able to check if your model has a rain sensor and where it's located.
Cheers

SOURCE: Car will on stay running for a few seconds before shutting off

It could be that your fuel filter could be clogged. You can check this by doing a fuel pressure test. After it dies, all the sediment drops off the filter so when you start it back up it does run for a small amount of time but then gets clogged up again after you start it again because it picks up the sediment again. You might also want to check your ignition control module. But my guess it's something to do withing your fuel system somewhere

SOURCE: Warning light isn't coming on for a few seconds

I'd go to Autozone and have them read the engine codes. They'll do this for free at most autozone parts places. The codes will indicate what's wrong and you can then decide if you really need to fix it

2002 Duramax with high miles, 335k. Truck was running fine then on the way out of the driveway heard a loud "pop", engine lost power but continued to run. Now, I hear a turbo whine I didnt hear before when...

Start at the turbo and check for loose or blown air lines . Check the intercooler for cracks. The turbo whine is normal but you would not be hearing it as the turbo is controlled to vary the amount of boost needed for the throttle setting. If you have to use starting fluid to start a diesel then it is time to consider a re-ring and bearings for the engine.

Sometimes when I turn off the ignition the engine keeps running - sometimes up to a minute. The local Toyota dealership has never come accross this before. Any ideas? Michael.

Michael,

It sounds like a Turbo timer, but if your local dealership has taken a look and they couldn't see one, then maybe not? Turbo timer's let the engine run for a period after you remove the key to let the turbo cool down before being powered off cold..

My 2002 volvo s60 fan blower motor stys on after i shut ignition switch off

Your Volvo does not have have a problem at all. The feature is what is known as a 'turbo timer' and is an important part of most turbocharged vehicles such as yours.

Your volvo is powered by a 5 cyclinder 2.4 liter engine that is turbocharged. Which means the engine works on the principle of 'forced induction' whcih helps it make more power.

A turbo like yours has a small impellor placed in the early section of the exhaust which is then spun up by heated and expanding exhaust vapors. this power is then transferred back to a 'charger or pump that actually forces additional air into the engine resulting in the ability to burn a more powerful mixture of air to fuel. Unlike your engine which even under very aggressive driving will only sustain forces at most approachign 9 thousand rpm, a turbo charger often spins with speeds in the tens or even hundreds of thousands of revolutions per minute. because of this they depend on a steady stream of engine oil to both lubricate and saturate the very rapidly spinning parts to keep them cool.

when the engine is suddenly shut off after a long or spirited drive the oil pump also stops, this could result in overheating and damage to the turbo.

As a result of this, Volvo was one of the fisrt companies to install a 'turbo timer' mechanism in its T models which as you noticed will continue to operate the fan for a pre calculated amount of time after you shut the car off in order to properly cool down the turbo.

Again your car has no problem whatsoever, this is a good thing and a nice feature to have whcih will definably lend itself to extending the overall life of your engine over time.

If this truck has a turbo it might just be the turbo timer.
or
This could be a sign that your timing is out, (the engine is "running on")

Do i need a turbo timer for an intercooled diesel engin..isuzu...

Yes it pays to have a Turbo timer or let it run for 3 minutes after an outing.
An Intercooler is usually fitted to turbo charged engines. It cools the air entering the engine making it denser,Thats why cars go really well on frosty mornings after they reach running temp.
Hope this helps.
