The cluster needs to be removed, then resolder the pins on the circuit board. you should be able to see the lil cracks in the existing solder on the pins..

My damn van would "quit" without notice, then start again weeks later.. i found a "quick fix" online by beating on the dash above the cluster to agitate the **** in there.. eventually that method became unusefull. So i did the resolder method.. not a single issue since.. entire time: approximately one hour for fix

A recall on all Montana's 2000-2005 for a elec. plug behind drivers seat gets corroded and causes a no start at purple wire.I hate to take up carpet that far to find, anyone no where exactly it is?

Where did you hear that one at . There isn't anything ,no connector ,no purple wire that gets corroded . Without proper service information , wiring diagrams etc... This diagnoses could take sometime . There is a ppl wire from the PCM / Crank fuse 10amp located in the instrument panel fuse box . When you turn the key to start B+ voltage is supplied to that fuse . from there it goes to the PCM crank sense input . From there the PCM energizes the starter relay sending B+ voltage to the starter solenoid . Turning over the engine . Suggest you look at a wiring diagram at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter your vehicle info. year , make , model , engine size . System (engine ) Subsystem (starting )

What else can be the reason this 2000 Dodge Caravan won't turn over by turning the key while in park.

have you checked the ignition switch thats on the steering column shaft, when you turn the key it moves a rod that moves positions on the switch.

Y is my auto shutdown relay clicking and van wont start

The last time I saw this, it turned out to be a bad ECM due to shock. This was a Grand Caravan which didn't have any major damage as a result of the colision.

I put key into ignition, turn to start, nothing happens.Turn key of and try again, after several attempts, the van will start ok. This problem does not happen all the time, but is happening more frequently...

From your description of the problem, I would suspect either the ignition switch itself is starting to fail (large heavy key rings hill help that along) or your starter relay on the fuse panel. You can swap the relay with another like relay on the board and see if the problem moves or just replace it.
