I have a 2001 aurora and the DIC doesn't display anything (but the buttons work, since I can change between km & miles) and the heated seats don't work - push the button the light comes on briefly, then dies off.
Ideas? I also had the remote trunk, fuel door and homelink fail this morning, but I've not had a chance to check the fuses on that one.
This is the exact same problem I'm having right now too. I'm going to try and access the fuse box under the rear seat and see if the fuse is blown, but other than that I don't know what to do either.

Update - The fuse is fine in my ride. Seat still does the same thing as yours. Turns on for a brief moment, then turns off. I'd love to know some other cheap and easy ways to troubleshoot it.

I just got the car so who knows - my other issue is the computer is off (completely dead) so I'm guessing the next step is to go to the dealer; it makes sense that the anti theft bits are tripped. Odd thing is I would have expected the dealer that sold me the car would have caught it... Hey..I'm using my mom's 2001 Aurora cuz I had foot surgery and can easily get in and out of the car. The trunk and fuel gauge on the driver's door are not working. Do I have to have a fuse replaced and where is the fuse for that located? Please help...I had to hop on one foot to pump gas yesterday and manually open the fuel gauge.

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue with heated seats that do the same thing. The Drivers seat turns on, then the light goes off. Occasionally it stays on and heats really fast, which is what it was doing prior to it dieing. It would get so hot so quickly it was actually extremely uncomfortable and would have you squirming in the seat.
The passenger seat however still works fine and I have no complaints from anyone riding in that seat. My guess is that the heating pad has a short and overheated, probably needs replaced, but I by no means am an expert.

If anyone has worked under the hood or in the dash get your copy of what you paid and head to the dealer most dashes boards newer then 95-96 need dealer codes and scanner's to re boot if in safe (anti theft) bit if it starts check the fuses it may be in a seperate connector, your bcm (body control mod) is first to check those computer dashes are very sensative

Did you have the oil changed lately ?
Oil Life Left
Oil life left percentage is based on the information the DIC receives from a class 2 message from the PCM. The DIC displays the current percentage of the GM Oil Life System. When the oil needs changing the change engine oil indicator in the message center turns ON. When the engine oil is changed, reset the oil life left. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.
GM Oil Life System Resetting
When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (5 000 km) since last oil change.
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
If the vehicle does not have optional Driver Information Center (DIC) , do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
Turn the key to OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
If the vehicle has the optional DIC, do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Press the MODE button until the DIC reads OIL LIFE LEFT/HOLD SET TO RESET.
Press and hold the SET button until 100 percent is displayed. You will hear three chimes and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will go off.
Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Oil Life Monitor Resetting (KD, KE)
Description
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil and the engine oil filter - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 12 500 km (7,500 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the CHANGE OIL message may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 12 500 km (7,500 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.
The engine oil life monitor will not detect dust in the oil. If the vehicle is driven in a dusty area, be sure to change the oil every 5 000 km (3,000 miles) or sooner if the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message is displayed.
Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed.
Resetting Procedure
Press the INFORMATION SKIP button on the DIC control panel in order to display the OIL LIFE LEFT message.
Press and hold the RESET NO button until the display shows 100% ENGINE OIL LIFE.
Check your fuses first. Then check to see if you have power to the box under seat. It should be about 3x3 and black I think. If you have power to the box change the box. To check use a test light. make sure the key is on and the button is pushed then probe the wires going to the box. Hope this helps you.
Labatche822,
The process for resetting your Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) is below.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards.
To reset (calibrate) the system:
1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
2. Press the GAGE INFO button on the DIC until
TIRE PRESSURE appears on the display.
3. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for about five
seconds. After five seconds, the display will show
TIRE PRESSURE RESET. If TIRE PRESSURE
RESET does not appear on the display after about
five seconds, see your dealer for service. After you
release the DIC RESET button, TIRE PRESSURE
NORMAL will appear on the display.
The system completes the calibration process during
driving. During the first 10 to 25 miles (15 to 40 km) of
driving, the system will not alert you if a tire is high or
low. After 25 to 100 miles (40 to 160 km), the
system will only alert you about pressure differences of
12 psi (85 kPa) or more. After about 100 miles (160 km)
of driving, the system will alert you if one tire is
10 psi (69 kPa) different from the other three tires.
1995-1999 Oldsmobile Aurora
- To reset OIL LIFE message, press the ENG. button with the ignition on until OIL LIFE percentage is displayed.
- Press the RESET button for 5 seconds.
- RESET will appear and then OIL LIFE 100%.
When the system is on or off, push the ON/OFF button down for three seconds to change the display between English and metric. This will also change the digital screen for the climate control system between English and metric.
The heated seats have relays that run them. Not quite sure where they are located but. That noise is the relay clicking on and off. They are actually pretty loud. Look for faulty connections to and from the relay and check battery power to both sides of the relay.
A common cause for the heated seats to not work is a burned heater element. There is an element under the seat cushion cover, and one under the seatback cover. If either has failed, both will not work.
This is the exact same problem I'm having right now too. I'm going to try and access the fuse box under the rear seat and see if the fuse is blown, but other than that I don't know what to do either.
