Put new fuel pump in and still not running, when listening for the fuel pump to prime we can not hear it running.

So we parked the car one day and went to go start it and nothing. I know what the fuel pump sounds like and I did not hear it, so with the car having 130,000 miles and knowing this has been an issue with cavaliers we replaced it. Nothing has changed and still can not hear the fuel pump ingaging. We have checked the fuses the relays, all seems good. In addition we removed the fuel filter to see if we could get a spray of gas and nothing is coming out. We think it is a power issue but just cant figure it out

Cranks wont start no rpms shifter stuck in park

You need to join a honda user forum and post the question there. Sounds like the ignition is not being turned on. First, click on the key is accessory then "run" where the fuel pump spins up and the ignition is powered up so the spark plugs get spark. The old relay might be good and the ignition wiring bad. Test the old part if you have it by touch a wire to the + and - and listen for a click.

Does a 2000 Alero have a reset button for the fuel system

This is one of the prime moments that a faulty fuel filter will raise it's ugly head. It's because the filter has now been allowed to run dry and all the sediment dams up inside once the fuel reenters the filter. I'd start there. Then listen for your fuel pump upon starting. You should be able to hear it cycle for about one second to prime the system. If you hear nothing then it's a good chance your pump is gone. This also is a very common occurance when running out of fuel.

No fuel up to injecter pump truck just stalled

Did you check for fuel pressure on the line from the tank while you had the filter off? Do you hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition on? First I would listen for the hum of the fuel pump when you turn the key to the run position (not starting the engine) May have to get a helper and listen at the gas filler neck with the cap off. If you dont hear your fuel pump, check your fuses and relays. If the relay clicks when your helper turns the key on ( put your finger on the relay and ear down close to feel/hear the relay actuate)., and fuse is good, yet you do not hear the pump prime, I would say your fuel pump is shot.

If it is a diesel, check for fuel pressure coming off the direct drive pump hose while cranking the motor.

turn key on and listen for fuel pump in the tank, it should go on for a few seconds then turn off. if you cant hear it try to listen at the fill cap when someone else turns the key on. if you cant hear it , check the safety shutdown relay under hood, it shuts down fuel pump and ignition

Turn the key forward and listen for the fuel pump to prime. It should sound like a low humming noise comming from the fuel tank area. If you don't hear anything. . . it's most likely your fuel pump or possibly the fuel pump relay.

Where is my fuel pump at? on a 1995 chevy camero 3.4 yes ran the car out of gas put so in wont start now what should i do first

Your fuel pump is in the tank. Turn on the ignition, and listen if you can hear the pump run in the tank. It will only run a few seconds if the engine is not running. You can repeat this several times to prime the fuel injection.

My explorer ran out of gas, i filled it up to about a half a tank, now it just turns over but wont start

if it's fuel injected, look on the fuel rail for a schrader valve--looks just like a valve stem on a tire but shorter.remove cap, again just like on a tire.turn key to on-push valve stem in as if to let air out if you get air, then gasoline, you have just bled the system.replace cap, start car.if you get no gas, remove gas tank cap, turn on key, listen for ""hum'' of fuel tank.no hum, check fuel pump.modern[plastic] fuel pumps will self destruct if run dry, even for a short time.

Car trys to crank but want

How about the fuel pump relay? or possibly the ASD relay. need to make sure you are getting voltage to the fuel pump when the key is on, the pump will run only for a few seconds when you turn the key to start to prime the system. If you dont hear the pump prime, check the aforementioned relays and associated fuses.

1997 GMC K1500 4x4 5.7 ex.cab SFI injection system

I would check the fuel lines themselves and make sure there is no blockage. If not you might want to check your fuel injectors and see if they need to be replaced. also make sure you didnt install fuel filter backwards.

1997 GMC K1500 4x4 5.7 ex.cab SFI injection system

fuel pump died replaced it truck ran poorly afterwards. Had a prussuer test done pump determend pump was no good. Put in another ran good for 2 days started running poorly hard to start no power. 2nd fuel pump. So i figure another bad new fuel pump wow changed it put in a third brand new fuel pump. Still will not eve start now. I had it tuned up 2 months ago new plugs rotor, cap, etc. put in a new fuel filter made sure it is on proper checked all connections for leaks. this cannot be a fuel pump problem now. no problem with the elctrical i figure i have great spark on ignition tester. I can hear the fuel pump prime when i turn the key. but when i went and checked the fuel port i had no pressure. When it is being cranked gas sews out of the test port. Also i dont if this is comon cause i used to turn my keyand go. but when i have someone turn the key and i listen at the gas tank whn the key is shut off i hear gs spraying back into the gas tank. So i am open for opinions.
