SOURCE: lincoln ls transimission fluid

I believe that trans is of the 5R55N/S/W family, and the fluid level AND fill are both located on the bottom trans pan. There is a procedure and fill cautions as well as tools required,as per Ford Motor Co.

SOURCE: 2000 Lincoln ls overheating

There is a hose on the side of the coolant resevoir that has a straight blade screwdriver fitting in it. Open the fitting and this will bleed the heads on the LS. Without opening this you will never get the air out of the head, trust me.

SOURCE: fuse #12 for 2000 lincoln towncar keeps blowing

fuses are a safety device. they are made to blower when to much load is drawn over them. some component on the circuit is shorting out. if possible unplug all the items on that circuit. put in a new fuse, then reconnect component one at a time until the fuse blows again. a process of elimantion. it may take some time, but it will be expensive to take it to a dealership.

SOURCE: need to check the transmission fluid in my 2000 lincoln ls

Hello okiecouple, my name is JShreader. Thank you for choosing fixya.com

There is no "Dip Stick" on this Transmission. Instead, there is a Drain/Fill/Check Hole on the bottom back side corner of the Transmission. Below is a picture of it...

On these Lincoln Transmissions, for proper test results you need the vehicle sitting perfectly flat (in the shop, we have equipment to ensure the vehicle is perfectly level). I went ahead and made you up the Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure in .pdf format. You can download it by clicking HERE. I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions or need any more diagrams, please don't hesisitate to ask...Thanks again, JShreader.

How often to change tranmission fluid on a 2002 lincoln ls

Hi Gary,

There is a small dilema here. The Owner's Manual for your Lincoln says to refer to the Maintenance schedule to find the proper interval for replacing your transmission fluid. Here is where the problem arises: The Maintenance schedule published for your vehicle says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals for several transmission models. Then it "excepts" the models that are not lsted by transmission model number in the preceeding text - yours is not listed.

Then, when I go to the service manual and search by your vehicle (2000 Lincoln LS) it says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals without any exceptions.

Here is what I recommend to my customers:

CHECK the fluid every 30,000 miles and REPLACE the fluid and filter every 60,000 miles. I have found that this works for almost every make and model out there. I have several customers with over 300,000 miles on their cars that have never had transmission overhauls.

For free PDF version downloads of both the Owner's Manual and the Maintenance Schedule (3rd printing) for your vehicle, click the links below.

My 2000 Lincoln LS sputters when accelerating. It does this until I get on a straightway. I usually have to take my foot off the accelerator and start over with the transmission. What could be causing...

EGR Valve--bad
Most likely, you have at least one bad, COP Ignition coil, missing.

Any time you even lightly touch the gas pedal ,you load the engine, that points to egr.
You remove the egr vacuum hoses, plug them and test drive, up a hill.
Problem goes away, change valve. Get that out of the way before working on coils.

Buy CRC MAF Cleaner-- follow instructions, spray Sensor. In ducting after air filter and before thottle body.

I have you have spark plugs that have no more than 50 to 60,000 miles on them or not more than three years use. If not,get them changed.

Make sure air filter is clean and gas filter is no more than 3 years also. It is behind left front inner fender, plastic shield.

Change your trans fluid (Mercon V ) If you go more than a couple years or 30,000 miles--Also Power Steering Fluid--(Mercon) not V
Brake fluid every year or two

Is there a filter in lincoln LS 2000 automatic transmission? I had transmission service - drain and fill - done at local Lincoln dealer and service manager told me there is a non serviceable filter in the...

Ford has been using a brass screen filter for a long time. It's not non-servicible but is easily removed and washed off which is likely what they did. Generally if the filter becomes plugged up it is from debris caused by a failure, at which time a rebuild is necessary and filter change would not cure anything
Hope this helps!.
