I just bought a 1996 buick riviera series 2 supercharged. First few weeks ran great, no problems. Recently i've been having misfires especially when I press the gas pedal down more, and going up hill. It seems to run good when its first started up but it starts misfiring when warm. What could be going on? What's the little things i should be checking first? It seems to misfire after 3000 rpms but it will vary. I also have a leaky coolant. Does that have anything to do with it?

Im having the same problem with a 96 buick century. I wondering if its the coil packs. The plugs and wires have 8000miles of use. So i think it shouldnt be them. But same symptoms, engine code P0300.

hey thanks for bringing me up to speed. ive been working on many other problems but with your great explanation i remember.
we need to check the compression on that cyl. and compare it to the compression on 2 other cylinders your choice.
but before you do this get a can of carb cleaner . and with the car idling spray around the intake manifold in the area of #6 cyl. what we are looking for is a small vacuum leak that would also act like this. with the engine idling and spraying around the intake the engines idle sould not change and if it does when you spray you have an intake leaking.
let me know how it turns out.

REPLACING THE SERPENTINE BELT ON A 1995 BUICK RIVIERA SUPERCHARGED SERIES 1. DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE TORQUE AXLE BOLT

No, you do not need to remove the torque axle bolt to replace the serpentine belt on your 1995 Buick Riviera Supercharged Series 1. However, you may need to use a serpentine belt tool to relieve tension on the belt before you can remove it.

New super charge is knocking

Not sure what the problem is hear, it knocks, well if it is full of oil and the oil is the correct type then the supercharger is defective would be my guess. Since that is a guess have a local dealer confirm the SC is the noise. It could be lower engine noise as well don't you think?.

I have a 1996 buick riveria and am having a problem. when I drive the car for a few miles (approx 10) I start to hear this kind of whisteling noise, I am not sure exactly where its coming from, up around...

You need a compression test done on this. When you get excessive air from the oil cap, this is an indication that the rings on the pistons are worn out. A compression test will confirm this.

Need to replace supercharged engine and trans. in a 96 Riviera

Faster and safer to drop the whole unit from the bottom with the cradle. Replace the supercharger snout bearing and seal before you install the replacement engine and the supercharger belt. Also replace the boost valve to your transmission just to ensure your getting the proper transmission line pressure throughout your transmission.

CAN YOU REPLACE A 3.8 WITHOUT THE SUPERCHARGER IN A 96 RIVIERA THAT HAD ONE IN IT IN THE BEGINNING

THE ENGINE WILL BOLT RIGHT UP. YOUR PROBLEM WILL BE THE ELECTRONICS, SENSORS, ECM PROGRAM, ETC. WHY NOT PUT THE SUPERCHARGER ON THE NEW ENGINE? IT SHOULD BOLT UP. MORE POWER IS BETTER AND YOUR MILEAGE SHOULD BE AROUND 30MPG.
