Question about 2005 Nissan Sentra

2005 nissan sentra 1.8 liter wont start cold ...

I have a 2005 nissan sentra 1.8 Liter my problem is the car will not start cold ... I have started it before and once warm will start every time ... once it cools off ( like sitting over night ) it will not start ... the car is turning over and sometimes you have to really pump the gas pedal to get it to start ... I thought the issue was with a injector as ive read that a leaky injector can cause such a problem .. i replaced 1 injector that looked horrable very gunked up ... #1 injector acted like they didnt want to come out .. #4 injector looked clean and even had some gas on it that was clean as well ... usually i would lean to believe that its the coils but as ive found with coils they usally work until warm then theres a problem so i know that thats not the issue ... is it possable that the fuel filter could be the issue ?? is there any known issues with this particular car pretaining to cold starting and or fixes for this issue ??? the car has to be firing on all 4 cylenders due to the car running smoothly when it does start and everytime after till its cold .... what would you suggest that it could be ? is there any tests that i can do to find this problem ???

alright ... I replaced the entire fuel pump due to the nissan parts dealership telling me that the new pump comes with the check valve built in ...

Car started right up .. and started for a few days then it started the not starting problem again ...
so far ive thrown in a fuel injector , a coil , a fuel pump.... im going broke from all the parts ive been buying to just get this car to start relyably .... it still wont start after 6 tries ...

i checked the coils they all are firing strong ... plugs are brand new platinum plugs ... its getting air and theres a new air filter in it .. and the pump is turning on when the key is turned to on in the ignition ...

any other ideas ??? this car is about to be a target for gun practice here shortly ...

bought it at a jack maxton here in ohio ... about 3 months ago and the warrenty went out 2 months ago convienient due to the problem starting once my warrenty was expired ....:/

My girlfriend's 2005 sentra is experiencing what I believe I just read. I thought it was an electrical issue (her battery looks tiny and old), so we're looking at a new battery, but this might be the actual issue with the vehicle.

    Thanks for the information.

Oh and is there anything else that could be an issue with the vehicle not starting some times, and starting quickly at other times? (battery, plugs, cables, timing belt)?

These vehicles had issues with fuel pressure bleeding down when they sit for a period of time (like overnight). Nissan has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on this issue.

There is a check valve in the fuel pump assembly that holds fuel in the fuel line so that fuel is readily available to the engine. This valve fails and allows that fuel to slowly drain back to the tank. The reason you have to crank the engine for a long period of time is that the fuel has to be pumped from the tank all the way to the engine- may take 10 seconds or more.

Once you start the vehicle, fuel is available and since the drain back to the tank is slow, restarting after even a few hours will be much easier.

The repair involves replacing the fuel pump "module" assembly (it's a service kit that contains the check valve mentioned earlier). The fuel pump assembly is removed from the tank and disassembled and reassembled with several new parts. This is a dealer-only repair. Depending on your level of expertise, you may be able to perform the repair yourself, but will have to buy the parts from the dealer.

Replacing the entire fuel pump assembly may not repair your issue due to the fact that the part you bought may not have the new design check valve installed in the pump assembly. They make these parts and set them on a shelf so that they can keep up with demand and they don't go back and correct the issues with all the parts that have already been manufactured. I still think that you need to perform the repair procedure as listed in the TSB- GOOGLE it by the number and it should come up.

As far as cost, depending on your dealership's labor rate, you're looking at around $200- $250 or so. Don't hold me to that because I don't have the accurate parts price right in front of me- but that's pretty close.

OK. Now mine is different. It starts right up when it's been sitting overnight. When I go out to start it after going in a store, or some stop of about 10 minutes, it will not start until the third time. I don't give it any gas. I just stop, try again, and it ALWAYS starts on the third try. I have a new batter. I thought it was spark plugs but they have been replaced. It is a 2005 Nissan Sentra, but it doesn't sound like this same issue.

Just had my 2005 Sentra in for the 3rd time - took five days of diagnostics and some other work which needed to be done.

Last year they said it was the fuel pump. Then they said timing sensor. *This* time, after checking with Nissan company, they were advised to replace the timing chain. I am going to document results, and my dealership also wants to be advised. Will keep you informed least the timing chain was still on warranty.

SOURCE: 2000 Nissan Sentra 1.8L.

Sounds like either it has a bad valve, or worn rings. With the mileage, I would suspect it's just plain getting worn out, when the engine warms up it internal tolerances are better then cold.

SOURCE: fuel like issue; nissan sunny (sentra) b14

First from the fuel tank in side the fuel tank there is filter remove the screws on the top where the fuel gauge fitted when you remove gauge you can see fillter that is one sometimes blocked.

Next if you check fuel filter it is ok, but nissan sunny has fuel filter inside the caburator where fitted fuel pipe from the fillter clean that filler.

ather thiing is check your connections any leak or loose.

Car wont start

A few things might cause that, ECU, Fuel Pump/ Crank/Cam Sensors. You may want a nissan dealer to take a look at it.
