If you stilll have heat sheilds around the exhaust system then check then for looseness as these will cause a squeak or rattle noise.you can try to tighten the sheilds or remove them.their purpose is to help keep the exhaust cool.if its a small pin hole in the exhaust it can cause a sound like you have.you will have to find the hole and if the system is not rotted weld the hole closed.if the system is no good then replace the bad part.if the noise is from the inside the muffler you can try to dent the muffler were you here the noise to try to stop it or just replace the muffler.

Muffler pipe rusted and broke clean in half, but actual muffler is new.

NEED TO TAKE VECHICLE TO MUFFLER SHOP LET THEM FIX RUST PIPE WITH A NEW PIPE.LET MUFFLER SHOP FIX BECAUSE THEY CAN WELD JOINT SEAL BOTH NEW EXHAUST PIPE AND NEW MUFFLER SO YOU WONT GET CARBON MONOXIDE POISON LET MUFFLER SHOP CHECK ALL THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BECAUSE THE WHOLE SYSTEM COULD BE RUSTED DROP DOWN WHILE DRIVING YOU PROBABLY NEED NEW EXHAUST PIPE HANGERS.

Exhaust muffler got louder. No holes in muffler.

Probably corrosion inside destroying the baffles and letting the wadding to break up. Sorry new is the answer.

Loud muffler noise up front of vehical.what is

If the noise sounds like your muffler, but isn't coming from the area of your muffler, then you have an exhaust leak upstream from the muffler.

From the front of your muffler, follow the tubing forward to the catalytic converter, then forward to the engine exhaust manifold.

If you start with the car sitting for a few hours to make sure it's cold, you can use your hand to feel for blowing leaks while the engine is running, but chances are you'll be able to hear it. be careful of the catalytic converter itself, as it heats up fast, so check that first.

Once you've found the leak, the fix depends on the emissions laws in your state. If you have none, and the leak is in the middle of the pipe, you can buy pipe patchers (metal preferred) through auto parts stores or catalogs/websites. If you have strict emissions laws, or the leak is at the junction of the catalytic converter and pipe, you'll need to replace the failing part.

Lol my problem

Leave the cat there. Just add a length of pipe and add a muffler (just get a cheap turbo for $20 bucks at a parts store). Clamp it all together and go. Should be fine.
