New battery, can't reset alarm

I bought this car used, and the seller didn't have the remote for the alarm. It hasn't been a problem till I had to replace the battery. Now as soon as I connect the battery cables, the alarm goes off. I have tried to start the car to no avail. I have tried using the key in the door to lock / unlock the doors many times... Is it possible to reset the alarm without the remote? I'm guessing that this is the factory alarm...

Remove the alarm, their might be a passive switch on the alarm to turn it off with a special key,if you dont have the key break the lock so you can turn it off or try to open case of alarm and look at wires and then dertimine which ones to join or break, every alarm inside is different so you will have to work it out.

On 2004 chevy silverado

Take the positive lead off the battery. Touch the battery with the lead on and off for about five to seven times. This should reset the alarm. Reconnect the positive lead and using the remote control for the vehicle alarm arm and disarm the alarm once before operating as normal.

New battery -alarm sounds- have to disconnect the battery-

The sounding alarm maybe a security system installed by in the truck. Disconnecting the battery will only temporarily solve your problem, but will resume once you reconnect the battery for electrical power.

You must find the keychain/remote of the security system and disable it. If you are unable to locate this, you can have it disconnected by a qualified automotive electrician.

Word of caution though, if you are using the keyless entry system with the security system, this will be disabled until you install a receiver with such function.

Hope this helps.
