2005 jetta 2.5 and the exhaust light on dash came on along with the ept light. what does this mean?

it means its time to replace the EGR (exhaust gas recirc) valve it will be located on your intake manifold.

The "Tour" light on the dash indicates the setting for your exhaust. Your exhaust system has two settings Tour and, I believe its called, performance. In the Tour mode the ehaust travels thru more baffles, less noise. In performance the exhaust will breath easier and with that a bit more sound.

your battery or you alternator is not performing properly depriving the engines ignition system of the volage necessary to keep the engine running. the EPC light came on because raw fuel was sensed by the o2 sensors

Sounds like a lamp out indicator. look for a burned out bulb.

its pretty new so im guessings its the oxygen sensor needs replaced, otherwise it might be the catalytic convertor the sensor is cheap the catlytic convertor not so cheap

Jettas were notorious for electrical issues. I fought with one for 2 years.
The starter relay is on top of the starter in the center rear of the engine compartment near the firewall. Its mounted at the top of the bell housing, underneath the intake and next to the exhaust manifold and hard to get at from both the top and bottom. Personally, I'd take it to a good respectable foreign mechanic. Not worth fighting with

Check your brake fluid level as this would bring this light on the dash if its low

if the needle is on or around the letter N then thats normal. you can also change the oil sending unit. as far as the engine light once you change the EGR valve and the EPT sensor the engine light should go off

It's your brake wear indicator light coming on. It means your brake pads are about 3/32" or less left on your pads. It's time to replace them.
