SOURCE: I have a 1997 Ford Escort. The rear seat belt is stuck

make sure that the rear seats are properly locked into rear catches as this can stop your seatbels from working if ok then sounds like your seatbelt is faulty req new seatbelt.

SOURCE: 1994 ford escort vibrates horribly in idle.

Your Idle air control valve is probably going bad. It is located on the throttle body and is a relatively easy fix as it is only held in with 2 screws. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!

SOURCE: coolant fan will not run on 1994 ford escort

If the car has A/C, turn it on which should force the fan on. If it still won't run, make sure the fan itself turns freely by hand and that there are no blown fuses. The coolant sensor tells the computer, which turns on a relay, which turns on the fan. The fan motor can be checked by removing it's electrical connector and applying +12 volts and chassis ground to the motor--it should run. The computer could have a defective output circuit which means replacement of the computer (that should show up with the check engine light 'on'). That covers about everything but a broken wire, or a loose connector.

Can you use a lower radiator hose to replace the hose that is conected to the fuel tank? I believe its called the filler hose, but I'm not really a great mechanic LOL.

No, the radiator hose is made for use with water and coolant products only. The Fuel talk filler hose is a specially treated and fabricated type of hosing that is resistant to fossil fuel and oil products. If you try using a radiator hose, you will likely eat through that hose with gasoline and then you will have a really bad situation. I hope I have been of help to you.

1994 Ford Escort, auto trans, 83,000 mi, randomly won't shift from 1st to 2nd, randomly loses power at hwy speeds

It could be an internal problem with a pump, or it could be it needs to be serviced really bad. Most 'oil change' places can also do transmission services... I'd try that first, before paying a big repair bill to a shop. good luck.

Gasoline gauge is erratic; does not show true reading

Most likely it's the sender unit inside the gas tank. Here's a quick test to determine if problem is your dash gauge or the sender unit. At the gas tank, unplug the electrical connector and use a jumper wire to ground the gauge sender wire on the car side of connector (not the tank side of connector). With key on the dash gauge should move to full, meaning your dash gauge is good, but the sender inside tank needs replacing. Check with Ford or a ford guy to see if your tank has to be removed from car to access sender unit. Some cars today have access panels to tank under rear seat.

What type of transmission fluid and how much goes in a 1994 ford escort wagon? I just had it rebuilt and they didn't put much back in it. It barley reads on the stick.

When you read it, make sure the engine and trans are hot, the vehicle is in park, and you're on a level surface.
Ford uses Mercon ATF. Just add 1/4 of a quart at a time until it reads OK on the dipstick.

My 1994 ford escort seat belt is stuck in the postion by the windshield. I have tryed turning the hex nut behind the drivers side, no luck there. I can here the moter runing and trying to pull the belt to...

I'm no expert by any means but I also have a 94 Ford Escort Wagon, its pretty sweet :) I had this problem a year ago and found out there is a rubber band or track that was defective. I couldn't afford to change out the motor so I helped the moving mount back up the track when the motor was turning. Then I disconnected the power to the seatbelt motor unit on the bottom of the B post right behing the driver's seat. Now, you have to manually attach both seat belts all the time but it saved me spending $100 on the wagon and still retaining all the safety it has to offer. Hope this helped, if only you can get the mount back up the track one more time you'll be good! Oh yeah, also, you won't have power that turn's on your dome light anymore when you open your door. I'm going to work on that though and will let you know if I can bypass it to still give it power.

Where is the fuel pump on my 1994 ford escort i cannot find it

It is in the fuel tank. You should be able to get to it after you remove the rear seat. Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable.

The fabric of the headliner is falling down due to the underlying foam backing dry rotting. How do you remove the headliner of the 1999 Ford Escort, and is there a place that sells a replacement?

This is definitely not a job to attempt yourself. Headliners are typically hard to fit for the inexperienced amateur and you may well end up with a mess on your hands.

If you wish to keep the car I suggest your best option is to seek out a reputable auto upholstery trimmer and get him to fit a new headliner for you.
