2006 Hyundai Sonata has intermittent no crank, no start in park. It will only start in neutral?

There are a few ideas here. The car shouldn't start in neutral, it should only start in Park and with foot on the brake. The are a number of sensors, switches and modules that make this happen. Take it to the dealership.

On my 2003 Hyundai Sonata on the dash next to the gears where it says P R N D ... there is a little box, never once since I have owned it has anything ever shown up in that box, now today when I turned the...

I think it means a lower gear, most vehicles have p,r,d,over drive which is usually in a box, 1,and 2.. 1 and 2 are for driving slower like in snow,or down steep hills.

WHERE IS THE SERPENTINE BELT LOCATED ON A 2003 HYUNDAI SONATA

Vehicles Covered: Hyundai Sonata 2002-2004 (2.4L & 2.7L Engines)

In 2003, Hyundai produced two types of Sonata:
Available engines:
4 Cylinders 2.4L VIN "S", MFI DOHC - see Figures 1 and 3.
6 Cylinders 2.7L VIN "H", MFI DOHC - see Figures 2 and 3.

To differentiate between these types of 2003 Hyundai Sonatas, the VIN 8th digit (Engine Type) will either be "S" or "H" as in the table above.

To locate the Engine drive belt, jack up the vehicle & place it onto jack stands, then slide under the car (toss a cardboard mat down first), then, once under the car, remove the (plastic) engine splash shield. Once removed, the drive & accessory belts are easily observed.

Fig. 1 Accessory Drive Belt Routing 2.4L (4 cyl) Engine - Hyundai Sonata
The "COMPRESSOR" refers to the A/C compressor, and "GENERATOR" refers to the Alternator.

The Belt Routing on the Left is "With A/C", on the Right is "without A/C"

Inspection - Drivebelt and Accessory Belts

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. Worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced.

Drivebelt Removal & Installation - 2003 Sonata (2.4L and 2.7L engines)

Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the engine splash shield.
Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to release the drive belt tension.
Remove the drive belt from the alternator.
Slowly release the drive belt tensioner.
Remove the drive belt from the accessory drive pulleys.

To install:

Install the drive belt to the accessory drive pulley.
Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
Install the drive belt to the alternator.
Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.
Slowly release the drive belt tensioner
Install the engine splash shield.
Lower the vehicle.

Here's the best illustration I can find of the Hyundai 2.4L and 2.7L engines - the drivebelt seems to be located on the passenger side of both of these transversely mounted engines.

My 2004 Hyundai Sonata will not turn over after being outside all day at work (it is cold). The car tries to start, but it sounds sluggish. I tried jumping the car, but it didn't help at all. I have had...

it may be a weak battery if when jumping it the engine didnt spin fast, but i belive the first time the battery was weak and trying to start may have flooded it with the cold weather, have the battery tested and replace it if not good then try holding the gas pedal down to floor like the older cars and hold it until motor gets going then slowly let up as rpms rise, you may have to crank a while.
