Check the rear glass and doors the button thing that tells the dome light to come on when u open it might be stuck in the outward position..that or check by your headlight switches usually u can turn it on manually over there

No sir they will not interchange. i worked at a transmission shop for 7 years. the inline 6 has a 500 trans in it and the v8 has a 518 trans in it. the bellhousings are different.
I just bought after market headlight assembly units for my 1995 jeep grand Cherokee limited. The ball won't stay in the plastic piece. Won't snap in like the old one did. What do I do?
well the real deal is they are suppose to turn on but only till the alarm activates then they go off after 10 seconds if that is not the deal you need to have the elctronics checked buy a pro
Check door jamb switches or the maybe the tailgate is not closing properly. (If it has ever been in an accident, even the slightest misalignment could prevent any of those switches from closing properly.)
Another possibility is that there is a short in the actual interior switch.
Or, if you have the interior lights that automatically dim after so many seconds, then it's possible that the module is shorted in the on position. (But then all the lights should be on if this is the case.)
i believe in 96 they used internal switches as part of lock assy in the door. Most popular failure was tailgate and driver door as they are the most used door. if you have ability to remove either or both door panels and diconnect at the lock you can prove which it is
