Timing belt snapping at speed means that the engine would need a strip to check for damage caused by parts coming together that have no right hitting each other and who ever changed the belt should know that if they where any use as a mechanic

Well what i know is when the timing belt breaks the Valves get bent for most of the time like 99% And i don't know if that Mechanic checked the valves or not because if they are bent then the valves wont close properly as it should and the car wont have power and the RPM will be low even if you accelerate. and what i can say is take your car to an autopart store Like Pep boys or autozone, and ask them to scan it and erase the code and see if it back again and they should scan it for free. Good luck

I currently own an 03 sebring same engine that also had this problem. And this is a common issue on these cars / engines. P0016 is CAM/CRANK Correlation Error. Means they aren't in sync with each other. I resolved mine by simply replacing the plugs and wires. Then A loose tensioner pulley on teh timing belt was throwing the code and ended up with the belt failing.

The mechanic said you were lucky becuase typically when these engine break a timing belt and the engine continues to run it bends / breaks valves which is massive internal damage and VERY costly to repair, hence the reason mine has been in my driveway since June.

I would start with replacing the coil and all spark plugs / wires. And ask yo umechanic if he changed all the tensioners and the water pump as well, teh water pump is timing belt ran on these engines and if there is the slightest amount of slop in any of the two tensioners and or the water pump it will cause this code to error.

I replaced water pump on v6 and now car wont start. Is it possible to installl the timing belt incorrectly because i didnt do it myself?

If someone who knows how to change a timing belt didnt do it, then it is most likely wrong. Timing belts are one of the more delicate things to change. it the gear/pully, location needs to be marked on the block with the #1 cylinder at TDC (top dead center) before removal or it will be installed wrong. I hope this help. Please rate this Thank You

with the timing belt on the vehicle install the botton piece of the timing cover with crank pulley. line up the notch on the crank pulley with 0 on the timing cover for top dead center on the crank. then there is a small sight hole in the spokes on the camshaft timing gear. with the belt off the timing gear line up that sight hole with a notch behind the gear on the cylinder head. you will only be able to see the notch through the sight hole with a mirror. once these are lined up slide the belt back on the timing gear and recheck afterward. this the procedure for all 5s-fe motors
