I need specific instructions on how to change the timing chain for my 1993 ford f-250 diesel (non-turbo). A video would be especially helpful. Thanks.
If your truck has the 6.9 or 7.3 engine, which is what it should have, then there is no timing chain. Everything is gear driven. If you are having trouble with the engine pick up a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part # 10330. It has excellent repair advice and tips complete with photos and diagrams. Wow that sounds expensive for a relay. You didnt say what year it is and you thought it was a 7.3 powerstroke. Sounds like its a 6.0 powerstroke I could see that relay costing that many bones. If its a 7.3 liter you should be able to buy one them glow plug relays yourself and with a basic set of sockets change it yourself. You just need to unhook both ground wires on the batterys before you start. Should take like 30 mins max on a 7.3 liter. But a year and engine size would make it easier to help you.

my step dad had the same problem they said it was glow plugs but it was the cables to the glow plugs were messed up after that it runs great

Check all turbo hoses first for splits etc. It's best to remove each one for a thorough inspection. If they are all ok you need to locate the small rubber hose that goes to the top of the injection pump. Check it. It's probably split somewhere. this ups the fueling when on boost. If its not intact you will have very little power.

First make sure you have fuel....diesels this age don't like running out of fuel.....it will take awhile to prime system again.....short bursts on the started though15-20 secs at most
