When I turn on the air conditioner after about 5 - 10 minutes the car wont shift out of 1st gear and the speedometer doen not work. After I stop and turn off the car, let it sit for about 10 minutes or so it starts up and seem to shift okey. We have checked the transmission fluid and it is fine, we added some stop slip to it thinking that would help.
Most Ford Taurus wagons have a transmission that generally goes first. that's the main reason. Just something to do with the way they are built. The only advice that I could offer is either replace the tranny or just not run the a/c. Usually it's just the motor working twice as hard running the a/c and that in turn puts the computer into the phase of lower gears for the transmission. there in being the problem.
