Traction control active light comes on sometimes for a couple seconds when taking off from a dead stop then light goes off...this happens on dry pavement... can anybody give suggestions on what my problem could be? Hub Assembly maybe? Speed sensor maybe? I dont know where to start to diagnose this problem... Thanks for any help!

My wife says the ABS light has also came on and stayed on so she would shut off car and the light would go out...however I have not ever seen the ABS light come on and stay on. She seems to just drive the car and not tell me much unless I ask her specific ?s I guess as long as the car goes she figures its OK :(

Usually caused by a wheel speed sensor on the drive wheels. Check the sensor mounting, wiring, and tone ring for damage.

SOURCE: Traction Control comes on

I would recommend you have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes. You can get this done at no charge at your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts store.
Record the code numbers and reply back to this message and we can go from there.
Based on your description, I would guess you may have a HWSS ( hand wheel speed sensor) issue or possibly an ABS wheel speed sensor problem, again, this is only a guess until you have the codes read.
Let me know.

SOURCE: Anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement

First, is the ABS light on? Does it come on when it's doing it? Make sure the brake fluid is full, and the brakes are still servicable, ie, pads still have meat on them. If so, the abs control module or a speed sensor might be on the way out. This is a safety issue, and I would recommend getting the truck to a good mechanic to have it checked out.

SOURCE: 2001 Impala Traction Activates unnecessarily

THE SPEED SENSOR IS LOCATED INSIDE THE HUB ASSEMBLY. THE TWISTED WIRES GOING TO THE SENSORS ARE PROBABLY AT FAULT. THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HARNESSES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH A DEALERSHIP.

SOURCE: what would cause traction active light come on

just because it is a non slippery surface does not mean your wheels can't break traction. if the abs light and traction active light do not stay on continuously afterwards, i would not worry about it. if they stay on for a long while after you break traction or take off, i would consult a local mechanic or dealership with access to a diagnostic scanner

2011 chevy impala traction control

There are a few reasons this might happen. Believe it or not it could be as simple as a loose gas cap. That can cause a false reading in the throttle position sensor, and activate the traction control. Remove the gas cap and put it back on making sure to tighten it until it "clicks". Another reason may be a faulty throttle position sensor, or it has a glitch, thus activating thr traction control. Try the "Old Fashioned" fix of disconnecting the battery for about an hour, to reset the computer. After you reconnect it, turn the key to the ON position but don't start it. Slowly press the accellerator to the floor and release. Turn the key back off, wait a few seconds then start the car. This should take care of the glitch, if not it's most likely the throttle position sensor needs to be replaced.

MESSAGE CENTRE TC

TC = Traction Active

If your vehicle is equipped with the Traction Control system, this message will stay on a few seconds after the traction system stops limiting wheel spin.

This message will appear when the traction control system is limiting wheel spin. Keep in mind that when the warning lights turn on, a fault code is stored in the ABS control module (in this case). Retrieving, diagnosing, and repairing any ABS system faults will be necessary to keep the light off. A common fault with ABS systems are the wheel speed sensors, stored codes may confirm this.

Hope this helps.

Traction active message is coming on what dose this mean?

Your car has what is called "traction Control" when wheel slip is detected by the system it takes control of the brake system and stops the spin, some cars call this Stability Control, if the light is always on then the system has a failed part and is turned off by the control unit.

What would cause traction active light come on

i have had this problem since about 6 months after i bought my 2001 impala. the problem is in the hubs. the wireing that runs throw them rubs together and eventually shorts the traction and abs. easy solution to fix it though. get into the hubs and wrap the wires. otherwise take the car in and explain the problem to them and exactly what you need done. 9-10 times they won't fix the problem unless you tell them what you want done. it is really simple and going to the dealer should only cost you about 100 to fix.

Traction Active light comes on

1prettysmile,
The "traction active" light is a light that lets you know when a certain part of your Anti lock break system engages. Each tire has a sensor that detects a couple different things in the wheels. One of the sensors may be going bad and needs replaced. Any of these sensors going bad can cause those symptoms.
