Electrical problem I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, last night I was driving and all of a sudden the lights started flashing, cutting in and out and the engine started doing the same. The lights then kicked off completely and I ended up driving home in the dark. Got it home, restarted it and the hazards started randomly flashing even though the button wasn't on. I'm thinking its an electrical issue somewhere, but no idea as to where. Any guesses on how to approach this?

The best thing would be to check for codes on all the modules to see if one or more of them have seen a problem. This would probably show a U code.Which would mean a loss of communication in one or more of the modules. You need a scan tool that reads all the modules, not just the power control module. The only other thing that it could be would be the ignition switch. This is what powers the gauges and interior lights.Hope this helps.Good luck.Let me know what you find.

Sounds like the horn button on the steering wheel has gone to ground. Look at the harness running up the steering column to see if any wires look pinched or cut.

If the security light is on, it can only be one thing. This light indicates a failure in the antitheft system that will eventually lead to your car refusing to start or continue running. Here is a link with alot of info, plus ways to beat this problem.

This is an electrical problem. Clean the battery cables and it may fix it. Or it may need a new thermostat. This is 2 common problems with the Grand Prix

I have an 05 Pontiac Grand Prix. The Brake light and low brake fluid light came on last night. I have plenty of brake fluid and am not losing any fluid underneath. I can't figure out why it came on. ...

remove the connector from the fluid level sensor. If the light goes out, your sensor has failed on and needs to be replaced. If it doesn't go out, the wire has shorted to ground along it's path to the instrument panel. You can probably find the short and just wrap it with electrical tape.
