P O 242 6.0 engine - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2001 grand cherokee generally had a 4.0, 242, I6 engine with 196 hp @ 4600 RPM, 230 lb-torque @ 3000 RPM.

The 4.7 Ltr (287 c.i V-8) was available with 235 HP @ 4800 RPM & 295 lb-torque @ 3200 RPM.

Towing cap was around 5,000 lbs.

1,2, test 1, test 2 in 3 seconds at stall.

1: easy, (idle air loss, ISC stuck)
2: tad hard, (egr stuck open ,clean it) or flooding.???
3: impossible , lost spark,. or lost fuel pressure.

and rail pressure is dont with a gauge
all other ways are useless, , unless dry.
only 30psi or more is valid. not less.
no injector runs right below 28psi. (read the specs)

my new jeep runs at 60psi. 3.8L
to check rail pressure ,step one is to get the spec.

My FSM shows no V8s, is that a typo.????? sure...

on any 1996 , I6, 4.0 engines
1296 means. (not other engines!!!! or cars)
No 5 Volts to MAP Sensor
the 5v line is shorted ,or cut, or the ECU 5vdc power reg, is dead.

with the bad the engine EFI will be hopelessly stuck in limphome.
TPS dead, etc. and will run like craap
and stall.
P1 is a factory code, and you MUST mach code to exact engine,year and maker. or data you read is wrong.
P0 codes are federal codes. and are universal.
P mean powertrain errors.

step 1, pull battery neg .lug first or BOOM eat acid or far worse.

look at the transfer case shifter knob, if it has 2h, 4h, 4pt, n, 4l, you have a 242.

FOR THE 242 -4.0 ENGINE ROCKER ARM TORQUE IS 21 FT LBS FOR THE 5.2L AND 5.9L ENGINES ROCKER ARM TORQUE IS 21 FT LBS.

That may very well be correct.Asking for acceleration needs a strong spark and these parts will provide that.
