HOW DO I CHANGE MY OIL PAN SEAL

Take out the oil drain plug and drain the oil from the engine(let it drain for about an hour), use a small flat head screwdriver to break the seal between the oil pan and the engine, take it off, make sure you get all of the seal and gunk off of the engine and the pan where the seal goes, replace the seal and add any sealant if required and replace the pan, tighten the bolts from one side to the other and then one side to the other until you tighten them all(like you would the lug nuts on a car's tire). add 4.5 quarts of oil, let it sit for a while and then run the car at idle for around 10 minutes. Done.

1992 Ford Crown Victoria Oil Pan is leaking. Is this a major problem to replace? Fred

It is recommended that you lift out the engine before attempting to replace the oil pan. Once the engine is lifted you can remove the bolts, remove the pan, clean all the old gasket material.
Installation: Remove the rear main bearing cap oil seal Remove the timing cover oil seal Clean all the mating surfaces and seal grooves Install new oil pan front cover seals Install a new rear main bearing cap oil seal Install new oil pan side gaskets on the block Make sure the tabs of the front and rear seal fit properly as these are critical spots Attach the oil pan to the engine block and install the retaining bolts

  4. Remove the vibration damper retaining bolt and washer. Remove the vibration damper using a suitable puller.
  5. Remove the accessory drive brackets attached to the timing cover.
  6. Remove the A/C compressor, if equipped, and alternator bracket from the cylinder head and move to one side.

  11. Remove the crankshaft seal oil seal from the cover by prying it out with a suitable tool.

To install:

  1. Install a new seal in the timing cover using a suitable seal installation tool.
  2. Apply sealer to both sides of the replacement cover gasket and position the gasket on the cylinder block. Cut the end tabs off the replacement oil pan gasket corresponding to those cut off the original gasket. Attach the end tabs to the oil pan with sealer.

How to change oil pan seal

start the car and let run for 2 minutes just to warm the oil and make it a little thinner, turn car off. now if you cant get under the car jack ther car up, and let the vehicle rest on jack stands. drain the oil from the oil drain plug which should be on the bottom of the oil pan. once the oil is drained replace the oil drain bolt and tighten it. then remove all of the bolts that keep the oil pan in place. should be around 6 of them. remove oil pan and scrape off the old seal with a clean scraper. place new seal on, and replace the pan. put the bolts back on tightly and refill the engine oil to specified amount. check to be sure there is no leak on the oil pan. turn vehicle on and let the car run for a few minutes. make sure there is still no leak.

Hello, the oil pump can be removed by removing all the 10mm size bolts on the pump housing, it is not necessary to remove the oil pan or anything else. The oil pump pulley can be removed by taking off the 12mm nut then pull the pulley off and the seal can be replaced.
