What you need to do is get the code or codes. This is the best way to find out what is causing the light to come on.The ABS module is not usually the problem. The usual problem is the speed sensors in the front hubs.Which means you need to replace the hub assembly. They are not cheap. That`s why your better off getting the codes. This will tell you which wheel it is.The only problem I`ve seen with the ABS module is that they will keep running and kill the battery. If yours was doing this you would know because you will hear it running. It is just under the drivers seat on the inside of the frame under the vehicle.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: the ABS anti lock warning light is on

Could be as simple as low fluid level in the master cylinder. Check that first and then if it is not low or filling it and making a few starts and stops does not kill the light then stop by your local parts store and they will read your codes for free and tell you what the problem is. Free is good, bad brakes is bad, but hopefully it is just the fluid level.

SOURCE: abs anti-locking faulty light came on filled brake

The anti lock brakes have nothing to do with the truck starting.I believe you have 2 different issues. What you need to do is see if your getting fuel pressure. If your getting fuel then you need to check and see if your getting spark at the spark plugs. As far as the ABS you need to get the codes to see what is causing the light to come on.The only way to clear the codes is with a scan tool. But it has to be repaired first or the light will come back on.The fluid being low will not make the ABS light come on,just the regular brake light.Once you get the codes just post back with the year and motor of your vehicle and I can help you out with your problems.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Abs and traction control dash lites come on and off at various time..sometimes never come on

Your abs and traction control lights should only come on when you start to slide while breaking(ABS), and when your wheels spin in place when excelerating(TC). If those 2 things don't happen, which with some people they never do, you should never see the lights come on. Only when those mechanisms are in use do the lights come on. And they will always flicker as that is what abs and tc are, intermitant surges to break up the constant. ABS does this for obvious reasons...anti lock break, so when you slide, the abs "taps" the breaks in short bursts so they don't lock up. TC "taps" the exclelrator when it slips. Those "taps" are what trigger the lights on your dash, which is why they flicker and don't stay on.

The Service Vehicle light and anti-lock brake and Traction Cntrl light comes on after I drive the car for about two mile. I like to know why? I took to the shop and they said the brakes were fine. But the...

If the the abs module fails you still have breaks BUT if you need to apply the breaks to the floor the abs will not work which could allow you to go into a slide because of loss of traction. the abs system pumps the breaks to prevent your tires from locking up

What does the abbreviation ABS mean on my Dash Board of a 1996 Nissan Frontier King Cab truck?

It stands for Anti-lock braking system, and the reason the ABS warning light is on is due to a problem with the ABS system

Abs light just came on on my 2006 250. any suggestions

Hi, The anti-locking braking system (ABS), uses several sensors/Motors and is controlled by a computer. As your ABS light is on this would mean that there is a fault with one of these parts.
It would be best to have a diagnostic test performed at a garage, this will then tell you the exact fault.
Without doing this you would not know what part was at fault therefore you could waste alot of money changing parts that may not need changing.
Due to your ABS light been on, unfortunately this means that your anti-lock breaking system is NOT working, but your normal breaking system is OK, but take extra care on the roads until you have the underlying problem solved!!

Let me know how you get on and if you would like further assistance !!!

After driving for a short time the anti-lock break light comes on

you should check the ABS system under the hood. It's where the brake fluid reservoir is. make sure you're not losing fluid. and then, check your abs sensors on wheels; they could be going bad.

2002 Buick Century anti-lock brake problems

i recently had this problem too, except i had all the lights on (ABS, service vehicle, trac-off, AND service engine) they are all easy to fix without spending more than 20-30$ for labour (depending how much your mechanic charges you) mine did it for free and he found out why the engine light is on afterwards too. so to fix all these lights (abs, trac-off, and service vehicle you MUST get another ABS cable (i went to a garage, they were towing a GM vehicle to the junk yard so i grabbed some scissors and cut BOTH abs cables on each side (good thing i did because one was bad) and braught them to my mechanic. the reason the lights come on is probably a defect or in my case my mechanic said it was salt buildup in the wires (on the drivers side) so he cut the wire off and rewired the new one and BOOM all the lights came off (service vehicle, abs, and trac-off) now for my service engine it says catalytic converter but im trying to put some fuel system cleaner to help it out i read somewhere that this is a defect of the car, so if you dont have that light yet, SELL your car ASAP for as much as you can get for it (after fixing the lights of course) and always google (car name+recalls) in the search bar to see what youre getting into, take care

Anti lock brakes light

Good Day,

Usually that indicates bad ABS sensor or ABS component in the system. The quick fix is to locate the ABS fuse in your fuse panel, remove this fuse and abs is disabled. Your brake will function normal and it is safe to drive w/o abs until you can have it checked out, keep in mind you will lock you brakes under heavy braking conditions.

hope this helps
