You have a failing transmission, get the piggy bank out and start saving, it will stop working completely very soon.

Automatic transmission in my 06 Chevy Uplander slips when taking off from a stop and jerks into gear.

First thing is to check your trans fluid level. When checking it, do a inspection of the fluid. It should have a nice red color. If it looks brownish, and smells burnt, it needs to be changed. In addition, when was the last time the filter and trans fluid was changed? Over the years, the vecosity of the fluid breaks down, and causes the valves in the transmission to stick or get sluggish. One trick I had seen used BUT I am not recommending you use it, is to get about a pint or two of k-1 kerosene, and with the engine running, pour it in the transmission, and run it through the gears, and then drain the oil and replace the filter. The kerosene cleans valves and ports in the transmission.

Ijust had parts replaced because my 2003 ford focus ideled way to high and drove way to fast now my transmission jerks me when driving does that have anything to do with it

Transmission can suddenly 'grab' when it/you changes gear. An automatic transmission can be sluggish to change gear if the fluid is dirty and needs changing. A worn/slipping clutch on a manual transmission causes the engine to rev high before the car picks up speed.

From your description it sounds as though there's a misfire or rough running with the engine which causes the jerking, not the transmission unit.

There's many things that can cause the symptoms you describe - the MAF sensor .. fuel starvation .. O2 sensor ..

Get a good mobile mechanic to look at your car - or take it to a workshop. I don't think it's your transmission at fault.

Hi there why does my corsa 1.3 utility jerk when I accelerate, this happens intermittantly

it may be time to replace the clutch. If automatic, check the fluid and depending on mileage , it may be time to change transmission fluid and screen if it has one, fluid should not smell burnt.

I have a volkswagen sharan that is auto transmission. The problem with the car is whenever I want to change between one gear to another. It jerks and make little noise.what can I do?

Check the condition and level of your transmission fluid. If the transmission fluid is darkened, murky, watery, or burnt smelling, have it replaced and change the filter/screen in the transmission as well.

Car jerks when changing gears

You do not say if it is an automatic or manual transmission (clutch). I will assume auto. This could be several things. It may be something as simple as low fluid or possibly the transmission filter needs to be changed and the old fluid flushed out. Or the transmission could be starting to go bad and would need to be rebuilt or replaced.

My transmission in my 1996 Chevy 4x4 k2500 jerks real.bad when shifting into 2nd gear and as the engine heats up it won't shift at all?????PLEASE HELP!!!!

Automatic or standard transmision. If it is a automatic check the dip stick and see if the oil is red or black, and if it smells burnt or not. If it is black and smells burnt, you need to overhaul your transmission, which is not unlikell for a 4x4. If it is a std you are still on the verge of needing a new clutch.

Car is in drive and will not shift into any gear... it is an automatic 443-614-5000 [email protected]

Does the transmission fluid smell burnt? Is it filled to the proper fluid capacity? If the fluid has never been changed, the system flushed and a new filter put in - you may need servicing. (as long as the fluid does not smell burnt - indicating clutch pack problems in the trany) Let me know. Thanks

CAR JERKING AROUND 30,000 MILES

check the fluid for the color and smell.if the color is dark or the smell is burnt, your tranny have internal problems, also early hyundais had a lot of problems with the transmisions, internal failure as well as the valve bodies goin bad,if the service was done and you still have the problem its likely that your transmision needs a better diagnostic,if you are under warranty then there should be no problem.

Slow pick-up, high rpm

It seems as though the Transmission clutches are slipping if it's an automatic or the clutch is worn if it's a standard. If it's an automatic transmission check the Transmission oil it should be clean and no burnt smell. You will easily recognize burnt oil by it's nasty smell.
