Do you mean when you put it in drive the car does nothing, if that is what you mean to say then you only have one thing wrong that causes this, the transmission has failed (this assumes the fluid is not really low)

If the trans.oil is dark brown in color and smell's burnt your tranny is probably on it's last leg.If tou have bad pump pressure or low oil you will have to rev the eng to get it to build enough pressure to move.Your detent cable or kick down cable is for passing, when you step on the gas when passing someone this cable is pulled causing the trans. to go into a lower gear and when you let off the gas it should shift back into a higher gear.if it's out of adjustment it will kickdown to soon or to late.If your car has alot of miles it may be in need of a filter and fluid change, but usually when slipping occures its to late and you will need a replacement tranny.Hope this was helpfull.

You need to have a computerised diagnostic done and read the error codes and take it from there.

SOURCE: where are the ac ports

The easiest way is to follow your suction and discharge lines out from the compressor. The suction side is the larger line it will run from the compressor to the firewall on the pass side of the car. Here along the line you will find a receiver/drier tank and the suction port will be in this area. The Discharge line will run to the front of the car and out on the other side of the radiator. Along this line you will find the discharge port. Try this site idqusa when the site is working they offer a port location tool for most American cars.

Transmission clunks when shifting into reverse after initially starting the car.

It has a worn or broken rear engine mount most of the torque is absorbed in the front mounts and hanger mounts except when it is shifted into reverse.

89 old ciera cross ref.

Column shift tilt wheel:

Ciera '89, '90
Buick Century '89, '90
Chevrolet Celebrity '89, '90

Column shift w/o tilt

Olds Ciera '89, '90
Buick Century '89, '90
Chevrolet Celebrity '89, '90
Pontiac 6000 '89, '90

Floor shift...same options. Tilt and/or no tilt is a matter of preference as the wiring harness is the same, so either will work. Floor shift is floor shift only,'89 and '90 Ciera, Century, Celebrity, 6000.

Hope this helped.

the transmission breaking apart but in a really slow way. There's not a thing that can be done to save it. It's going to someday give out. You can prolong it by not punching on the pedal to test it. just drive it normally and DON"T get the trans oil change. Just leave it alone... I own 89 P/Ave 156,000 original owner. Same thing happened to my car and picked up a used trans at junk yard and my mechanic installed it and runs like a baby at half the price(700.00). If you go to junk yards half of the park ave are because of trans. Good luck
