My 1998 s10 2.2 truck will not start

After turning the ignition key to start the truck....nothing behaves the same way as if I tried to start it without pressing the clutch pedal.
My wife always forgets to press the clutch and then turn the key....she turns the key and then presses the pedal!!

I got the same exact problem you have with my 1996 chevy s-10 5-speed. The radio and lights come on, but it is as if you are not pressing in the clutch.

My 2002 chevy malibu the tail lights and brake lights will not turn off when car is running. I have replaced both multi function switch and brake switch. I believe its a relay because if car is not on depressing brake pedal turns on both radio and blower motor without key being in ignition switch. DOes anyone know why this is happening

-If the starter is only clicking or it is acting as if the clutch pedal was never pushed down- it is either one two things, (1) the click, click sound may be due to a bad battery connection or bad wire contact to the starter motor. (2) the neutral saftey switch which is attached to the clutch master cylinder on the inside of the vehicle, (under the dash) is deffective or needs adjusting-it is easier to simply replace it., no complex tools are needed for either repair, just a voltmeter to check wire connections on the battery to starter motor, or a small screwdriver driven socket to remove the screws holding the lower part of the dash together (below the steering column)- I hope this was helpful, I ran into a lot of problems after I swapped an engine and rebuilt the transmission on my 98 s10 but I eventually worked most of the problems out.

My 2010 Jeep Liberty only starts sometimes. It’s a standard and once I get it started, it runs very well. What could be causing this?

What could be causing this?????? Without knowledge of testing automotive electrical circuits ,viewing wiring diagrams an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ,your may never know . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Complex electronic's are involved in the starting of the vehicle . The clutch safety switch is just one input to the PCM - engine computer . Plus there is the Battery connections an cables . Voltage drop testing of these circuit's show unwanted resistance in the circuit. Plus it should also have a starter relay that the PCM energizes to engage the starter . Guess dosen't fix these type problems .A trained professional auto technician does.

Using keyless ford focus can't turn ignition after clutch is pressed

Sounds like an interlock solenoid is out of adjustment. Pushing the clutch is suppose to allow a solenoid to hit a striker and send an electric signal to release the ignition switch. Just to be careful with the car rolling if the clutch is depressed.

2000 Olds intrigue: When i turn the key nothing happened. All the lights came on (like they would if it normally started). There was no clicking noise - nothing. I tried shifting the car from park...

if an ignition switch fails, sometimes you can jiggle the key and it will start right up. its very hard to tell. but if you can start it by bypassing the ignition switch, then its the switch itself. go to this site for more detailed info--- page should help. click on top link.

Wont Start

The first thing is always to check the battery and it's connections, make sure they are tight and there is no corrosion on the terminals, try to jump start with another vehicle

Engine does not start?

Make sure that the connections at the battery is clean and free of acid built up. Take the terminals of and clean them propperly

It could also be the ignition switch at the wiring end not making proper contact anymore, try and wiggle the ignition wiring if possible and see if there is any change in the status when the ignition is switch on
