Hello, here is the proceedure. Any questions please ask. Good luck. CAUTION The red-striped wires on the 1994-96 DI Turbo engine carry 115 volts DC. A severe electrical shock may be given. Do not pierce the wires.

  1. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
  2. For 1994-96 engines, remove the valve cover.
  3. Disconnect the wire connector from the glow plug.
  4. Using a 10mm deep socket, with enough clearance as to not break or bend the wiring connector, unscrew the glow plug from the manifold.
To install:
  1. Place anti-seize on the threads of the glow plug and screw it into the manifold.
  2. Tighten the glow plug to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  3. Plug the wiring connector.

SOURCE: where is glow plug relay on a 2007 f350 6.0

I can solve this problem for you but I need the right information. They have your truck listed as a 2003 F-350. Then it is also listed as a 2007 and want to know where the glow plug relay is. I need the correct year and model with the proper engine displacement.

Glow plug light

Believe it or not, the glow plug light will only appear when the ambient temperature is low enough for the glow plugs to require heating. I did not believe this when I bought my truck and assumed there was something wrong with it, however the first frost of winter, the light came on!

I have a jeep cherokee and an engine light is on the fault code i am getting is p1265 any one help please

P1265 = glow plug #3 control circuit low.

Looks like a problem with your #3 glow plug, either the glow plug itself or the GP driver in the PCM.

This would explain the starting good one time then hard the next. I would test the glow plug if it is good there may be a problem in the PCM (power trans control module). Are you getting any other fault codes this would point to a bad PCM.

Hope this helps (remember comment and rated this) TY for using Fixya.

My 2004 f250 after it sits it wont start. the wait to start light only comes on for bout1 to 2 sec. the only way i start it is to plug it up at night what is my problem.

The wait to start light always comes on for at least 1 sec, if it goes off early it must think the engine is warm.

My guess is you have a faulty engine oil temp sensor that is telling the pcm that it is already warm. The only way to know for sure is to read the info with a scan tool.

Glow Plug System: Description and Operation
GLOW PLUG SYSTEM
The 6.0L diesel engine uses a glow plug system that preheats air in the combustion chamber to improve cold engine starting.
The system consists of:
- glow plugs.
- glow plug control module.
- powertrain control module (PCM).
- engine oil temperature (EOT) sensor.
- barometric pressure sensor (BARO sensor).
The glow plug monitor system is part of the On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD II) System.
The glow plug system is electronically controlled by the powertrain control module. If the oil temperature is below 55°C (131°F) the powertrain
control module will energize the glow plugs immediately after the key is placed in the ON position. Then, depending on the readings from the engine
oil temperature (EOT) sensor and the barometric pressure (BARO) sensor, the powertrain control module determines how long the glow plugs will be
on.
The glow plugs are located in the cylinder heads, under the glow plug buss bar.
The glow plugs are self-regulating. If the engine oil temperature is above 55°C (131°F), the powertrain control module will bulb-check the WAIT TO
START lamp but not energize the glow plug relay.
The glow plug ON time varies from 0-120 seconds depending on battery voltage, engine oil temperature and barometric pressure.
The glow plug control monitor (GPCM) system is designed to find failed glow plugs or failed wiring in the glow plug system.
