1997 mercury cougar 4.6L starter location

trace the big cable that came from the positive terminal of your battery. at it's end is the starter.

or if it passes trough a big relay, then there is another big cable from that relay that would go down to the side of the engine, either left or right, that would be the starter.

This code is usually caused by a loose gas cap or leaking gas cap cent diaphragm, the purge valve is under the car near the fuel tank

It is located on top of the engine under the throttle body, it sucks, plan on a whole day if you are a good machanic.

it's likely in the fuse panel under the dash... on my windstar... it was larger then the other relays and blue.
