2001 Dodge Caravan dinging noise from dash area

My 2001 Dodge Caravan is making a dinging/beeping noise in the dashboard area pretty much constantly while driving and parked. Any ideas what this could be?

  • Anonymous Aug 01, 2013

I have the same beeping issue from under the dash and it's not the fluid, keys banging, or EM Brake. while I have ruled this out I don't know the answer yet. Has anyone found a possible fix.

Make sure your keys aren't hitting the dash or steering column. I've mistakenly thought something was wrong before when this happened then later discovered I was just being an idiot. :)

Hopefully someone else can suggest a more likely culprit.

The check engine light on means there is a code stored in the ECM. You will have to have the OBD II system scanned and cleared. The other problem is probably just a blown fuse. If you need more help get back to me.

Where is inside fuse box on 2001 dodge grand caravan located not under dash or at side of dashboard drivers side

Are you saying that the dash is flat on the driver side of the dash when you open the door? I'm looking at a Caravan and there is a cover on it. You might need a little assistance with a thin flathead screwdriver to pop the tabs, but SHOULD be there

Why do i hear a dinging sound when apply brakes on 1996 dodge grand caravan ??

Noise is caused by brakes wearing. Either brakes shoes are worn, disc is out of round. Sound you hear is metal rubbing on metal, never a good sound. Contact auto repair or brake shop for repairs immediately

My dash has quit working on my 2001 dodge caravan

Have you ever had any work done in that area? Check all fuses and the back side of the fuse cover points you to what each fuse does. If you've had damage to the dash it is quite likely where your problem is.

Transmission problem on my 2001 dodge caravan

Not good if it makes a grinding noise. Needs a tech or replacement as something most likely has come loose inside the transmission.

Rapid clicking noise from driverside dash even after removing key dodge caravan

My 2008 dodge grand caravan does the same thing. I can unlock my doors and the clicking from the dashboard will start. I turn van on . (Engine is running) and nose gets louder and faster. It's almost like the shift lock is spazzing.out. I put.my hand on dash next to gear shifter and I can feel vibration from where noise is coming from. Also when I turn van off and get out if van. The noise of clicking keeps going. But than stops afterwhile..does.any dodge mechanic know what this is.?

You may have a ground problem. Or you may have a back feed. A back feed is when a hot or positive wire goes to or comes in contact with a ground (return or negative). You may need a volt ohm meter. The dash may have to come apart, and the circuit board controlling the dash functions may need to be looked at. Look for burn or contact spots with arc spots. The pointers pointing the wrong way seems to indicate incorrect voltage or the wrong amounts. Some computers in cars, trucks operate with varying amounts of power to give readings, or values,  even negative voltage readings from the car computer . Maybe a free scan at Advance auto or a similar place  would tell you something for free.LB
