Driving home from work Trans. stop working. I have no check engine light on... coasted into parking lot. turned engine off. Restarted the truck. It shifted again and is working but not like it should.... Fluid level is good. Prob for fluid level was wet. Cleaned it. Now the overdrive light flashes while driving......

Since you have the same 4R100 as the 7.3L I recommend checking the resistance of the solenoid connectors, it is like sonic said at the rear passenger side and it will be hiding under some flexible heat shielding (it is next to the exhaust pipe afterall..). Specifically, take the resistance (ohms) from pins 1 to 4 doesn't matter which is black or red. It should be 10-20 ohms. You also might have to put a jack under the transfer case, unbolt, drop the support beam and let the whole drivetrain come down a bit for decent access. These pins should be labeled but pin 1 is in the row away from the tab and is the rear-most pin. Replacing the solenoid body is $200 and a pan drop. Grab a few gallons of Mercon!

There is another recall on the cruise control. The first added a fuse. This new recall is about wiring and lighting problems caused by the cruise. Everything from not shifting out of Park to no brake lights to false dash indicators. Best to contact the dealer, if it is a recall its free.
