I have a problem with the truck running rough. It started yesterday when I went to take off from being parked the truck starting jerking forward and then died. After I started it again, it was running rough and I saw that the overdrive light was flashing "off" I had not turned it off....when I restarted the truck it ran ok, however when I went to stop at a light it ran rough and idle was not good. It died again. I have added some gas treatment to the tank, however this morning it was doing the same thing, not sure if it is the transmission or something with the engine? gas?
Overdrive light flashing is a warning to alert the driver there is a problem with the transmission . DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the transmission control module . Have it check !

I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!

Check pcv hose from the intake manifold for collapsing and leaking. Check while engine is running if it is leaking it will cause the light to come on. Also a dirty air flow sensor will cause a lack of power. Check ign coil for cracks along the sides also.

2001 f150 4.2 6cyl same problem idles fine but shakes and misses when u apply fuel.Also tramission overdrivelight flashes on and off Tried new plugs and wires new ignition module fuel filter and new fuel pump.New tps switch and mass air flow sensor from another truck still same problem. could it be related to overdrive light flashing? any help would be greatly appreciated.
