You need to unlock the driver door with the key. This will reset the system.
Testimonial: "key and lock were a little worn out. but you were rite, thx. it worked after several trys. maybe u kn add that to youre arsenal of knowledge ( wear ). thank you so much. "

Hi Andy Well Normally if you have to get it to 3000 rpm to get lights out and start to charge I would have said faulty alternator. If your sure alternator is ok I would check the pulley belts are not slipping ignition off key out grab belts and give a hard tug on belts is there any slackness or abnormal movement (possible broken mount or bracket). If all good remove belts and make sure all pulleys that the belts run on turn freely and none are seized or sticking. If all good grab a set of jump leads connect the black earth cable to a good known earth on the engine and the other end to the negative earth terminal on the battery make sure both connections are clean and secure. Start vehicle has fault gone? if yes faulty earth connection between engine and chassis locate and repair as required. Fault still apparent check power side make sure all connections are clean & secure . wiggle test at battery terminals (all connections) Check at alternator starter motor is there any discoloured wiring (over heating) wiggle test all connections. Before wiggle test make sure you are able to disconnect the battery earth terminal quickly if required. Remove it 1st as a test run but make sure it is secured when testing. If all the above fails to rectify the fault get it to a Holden dealer as more in depth testing will be required Good luck
If you have a loose fan/drive belt. That would cause the problem. Just tighten it up. Corroded conctions at the battery but you should have cleaned those when you bought the new battery. Have you had the Alternator checked? Perhaps loose or corroded connections at the alternator or a bad alternator. You can remove it and bring it in to a parts store. Many of them will run a check on your old one before selling you a new one. You could have left something on that drains the battery. A light somewhere or even a short causing a power drain.
Try this. Lock and unlock the tail gate with the key and see if it will start. The battery must be hooked uo when this procedure is followed. Whenever the battery is disconnected, the security circuit shuts the ignition down.
When you hook up any battery, make certain that you connect the positive battery cable first and negatvie (ground) second.
The alternator must be on it's last leg, pumping out only enough juice to keep the dash light from coming on and not enough to run the car and the lights at the same time. Make sure the belt is tight, If the battery stays charged enough to start every day, I would blame the alternator. Taking the part to the auto store to get it checked will tell you.
Easy way to check. Crank the vehicle while running remove one of the battery cables from the battery if the ingine dies your alternator is bad. I'll bet it is the alternator.
Just, Because you removed the battery connections and reinstalled them
will not repair a bad battery conection. Sounds like you have a bad conection at the battery. You'll need to remove the battery ends and clean
them with, a wire brush or a battery cleaning tool. Always, remove the NEG
conection FIRST,then the POS. After cleaning install the POS FIRST,Then
the NEG. Also, I believe there is a small conector on one of the cables.
Be sure to clean that conection also.
You, did not say if the lights are working.

- bad starter, or
- bad connection to starter, or
- bad connection(s) on starter relay, or
- low charge on battery, and
- and maybe some others... but these are most likely
Did the batery die??? Did you have to boost??? could be one of two things the pcm or your key needs to be reprogrammed, for the key connect the batery to a batery charger with it still connected to the truck, leave the ignition on for about 10-15 minutes or until the security light goes out, when it does go out turn off the ignition and turn it back on for another 10-15 minutes repeat this another time and it should be ok, if not take it to GM to have them check the pcm or replace...
You can also unlock the left gate first and then unlock the drive door.
