SOURCE: 1998 firebird engine interchange

Is the engine from the bonneville a 3.8 too. If its is it will interchange, Just make sure you use everything off the 98, like all the sensors ect. The basic engines are the same its the add ons that will be different.

I need to replace my oil pump and i dont know where it is located on my car.

The oil pump is usually located in the oil pan, connected to the pick up tube.
What makes you think the pump has failed, they are pretty bullet proof. Much more common issues are transducer (gauge sending unit) and pressure control valve.

Oil pressure it is showing 120

The gauge is faulty or the sending unit is on the engine. I suggest to replace the sending unit on the engine since this switch also activates the fuel pump to prime upon starting the engine up

NO OIL PRESSURE warning came on suddenly. I stopped the engine and started it after 10 mins. It was running fine until the same warning came back. Dip stick reads full. SOMEONE HELP!

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. I understand your concerns. No oil pressure is one of the worst things that canhappen to an engine.

The can be caused by a bad oil sending unit or a problem with the sending unit wiring.

The really is only one way to troubleshoot this and that is to read the oil pressure with a direct pressure gage. Most of the time that involves installing a direct reading gage at the oil sending unit port and verifying the actual engine oil pressure. If it is normal the most probable failue is the sending unit.
If the oil pressure is really low then the following things have to be checked:

1. Oil pump
2. Camshaft bearings
3. Main crankshaft bearings
4. Rod end bearings
5. Oil pump pick up tube in the oil pan

You can pull a valve cover an watch for oil flow but it is NOT going to tell you the OIL pressure.

The only easy fix is that of the oil sending unit and associated wiring. Everything else requires disassembly of engine parts for inspection of clearances.

I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan and the oil gauge light dings when I slow down or stop. How can I fix this?

Your oil gage is telling you your engine is showing signs of wear / aging. (Possible wear on the main bearings, connecting rod, and camshaft bearings) Your idle may now be lower than it should be. Or your oil sending unit is failing. Or... the oil pump iself is not performing as it once did. Or the Oil pump pick up tube in the oil pan is clogging up. Have you tired a direct pressure reading of the oil pressure? If the direct pressure gage indicates same as your oil light then everything listed above will have to be checked to determine exactly what it is that needs fixing.

98 Volvo V70 GLT - Oil Pump or Valve Job?

Most common cause of ticking in these is the oil pick-up seals. Remove the pan and replace the oil pick-up tube seal, the two seals for the tube in the pan and the 2 O-rings on the right side of the pan. And dont use silicone to seal the pan back up, because it WILL leak, I highly recommend the Volvo sealant
