SOURCE: Where is thestarter located on a 2003 Mercedes Benz E320?
You would need to get a repair manual for a schematic to know where the starter motor is located. In truth, replacement is not very complicated--you simply unbolt the old unit and bolt in a new replacement unit. But, you may have to disassemble other components to reach the starter motor. It is likely more costly to have your starter motor repaired. I suggest getting a new one or refurbished. Some places will have a "core charge", whereby you get that money refunded when you send them your old starter. In the end, it is cheaper and easier than getting your starter motor fixed. Good luck.
SOURCE: engine won't start,
try the crank shaft position sensor, i had the same problem, replaced it now it runs great
SOURCE: The manual gear shift will not move to reverse it
Some times you could get them out of park by pounding on the top of the shifter while moving it out of park at the same time. You need a new shifter assembly. If it won't come out of park, they can drag it onto a flatbed.
SOURCE: won't start, replaced starter and still won't start
could be flooded or clogged fuel injecters
SOURCE: how to replace a water pump on mercedes e320 1997
It is not complicated, depending on what hands-on level of DIY on car. Here are what need to do, so you can estimate how easy or hard when you look through your engine. Drain all the coolant, remove the thermostat housing, remove the fan, belt. Remove the water pump pulley. There are 4 bolts to hold the water pump in place. If you think you can take them out and put them in without removing the AC compressor then you can do it. I did it twice without removing the AC. The pump was fine for the second time, but for leaking seal. At dealer, it is easier to access from the bottom since they have a lifter. But it is doable at home. Have fun if you decide to do it.
