It's not an easy job, and a very messy one! If you have never done CV's before, I suggest you take it to a CV specialist, as they will do it quickly and cheaply in comparison to the hardship you will have to go through doing it yourself. These vehicles are common for the axles rusting into the hubs and siezing in there, and often the whole hub needs to be removed and the axle heated and pressed out. The new CV's often don't come with a tone wheel for the ABS system and you may need to swap the old tone wheel onto the new CV joint, and measure the alignment of it with the sensor when refitting.

How to replace a CV joint 2000 Cavalier Drivers side

Buy the right CV axle. Raise right front of vehicle. Remove wheel. use a lugnut and washers to secure brake rotor so that it is not flopping and trapping rust behind. Remove axle nut. Loosen nuts from outer tie rod end stud and lower ball joint stud almost all the way off, but do not remove them completely. Seperate the studs from knuckles by striking each knuckle with a ball peen hammer. After the tie rod and lower ball joint are seperated from the spindle knuckles, pry down on lower control arm and push end of axle through hub toward transaxle until hub and spindle assembly is free from axle/CV joint. Place drain pan under transmission. Carefully place pry bar between innner CV joint and transmission and pop axle assembly loose. Install new axle in reverse of the dissassembly.

Hyundai 2005 Elantra cv boot replacement instructions.

There are no instructions available except with the purchase of SOME boot kits. Depending on the CV joint design, you may not be able to remove the joint from the axle. However, most Hyundai CV joints can be removed from the axle by using a drift and a 2 pound hammer to knock the joint off the axle. Once you've done this, it's a simple matter of removing the old boot and installing the new one w/fresh grease and tension bands. Otherwise, you have to remove the DOJ from the other end of the axle and replace the boot that way.

94 Geo Prizm CV or driveaxle?

on this type of vehichle, you have two axles in the front; one going to each side. Chances are that the boot at the axle joint was torn and that is why you are having problem. In teh past people used to replace the boot, this day and age its actually cheaper to replace the axle. So you would need to replace that side of the axle (the half shaft).
