Transmission in drive seems to slip into neutral, then back into gear.

When I am driving it and let off the gas, turn a corner or just taking off again. Its like it is in neutral, it revs up then it finalily engages. The fluid looks to be full when hot. is there some kind of sensor going bad or is it the transmission going bad?

Does the fluid look brown and smells burnt or bright clear red.Sounds like the trans is on its way out.Once they start to burn and slip it coats the bands with contaminants that resist holding to the drums when engaging added to that the fact that they are worn a bit after 8 years of driving. If the fluid is not clear red try a service (filter, gasket and fluid )only you can tell wether to do that first or replace outright

Why does my 1995 Volvo transmission stop going into gear after it's hot?

1) How's your fluid level?

2) When did you last replace your filter?

3) When it shifted, did it go trough all the gears as you accelerate or did it just stay on one gear and never shifted?

4) How's reverse, does it slip out too after 2 - 3 min?

5) As you first able to shift into gear, you can drive it for 2 to 3 mintues and it just suddenly slip out of gear?

.... could be a number of different things. Maybe even burnt out clutche(s) inside your transmission

My 2006 Mazda MPV randomly slips into neutral while driving (usually between 3rd and 4th gear it seems.) I have taken it to 2 transmition specialists, there are no codes so they have no idea what coul

if there is a problem in the transmission electronics there will be codes recorded but the data plug is not being connected up properly to read them. I suspect a faulty TCM will be the answer.

While driving transmission will slip into neutral

The item that is electrically controlled and it turn controls the gear shifts is the TCM. transmission control module. They are prone to playing up and one of the reasons for that is moisture in the cable connections near the box. Have some one pull all the harness connections concerning the box apart and blowing them clean with air and ensure that they are dry and clean

Try changing the fluid in the transmission first this may solve it, if you are not sure when it was changed.
