Leaking water but not from radiator - 1995 Plymouth Voyager

Odd Statement
Radiator is leaking, but yet from the water pump
I got the issue, the water pump leaks, not the radiator
What is the question?

Vehicles: Any with the above symptoms

A cracked cylinder block will cause either:
(a) motor oil contamination of engine coolant
(b) coolant contamination of motor oil
(c) white exhaust smoke, due to coolant seeping into one or more cylinders.
(d) more than one of the above
(e) all of the above

Oil infiltrating into coolant is easy to see - drain some coolant out through the pepcock at the bottom of the radiator, and place it into a styrofoam coffee cup. Oil droplets floating on top of the green (or orange) coolant are easily seen. Or visualize oil by looking into the top of the radiator through the radiator cap.
Coolant infiltrating into and mixing with motor oil will permanently damage the engine (seizing it up through loss of lubrication), and must be prevented.
A leak from above the front suspension is, as physicians like to put it, "nonspecific", with the most likely cause a water pump seal or hose/hose connection.
A leak from near the fire wall will usually be a heater core hose, or hose connection.
A coolant leak on the same side of the engine as the water pump is a leaking water pump or water pump seal until proven otherwise.

To rule out everythng else, here's the 1999 Honda CR-V Troubleshooting Guide for Coolant Loss/Coolant Leaking:

Priority Action Part Type Cause
1 Inspect Water Pump - Worn, Cracked or Leaking Water Pump, or Water Pump gasket.
2 Inspect Head Gasket - Leaking Head Gasket.
3 Inspect Radiator - Leaking Radiator Hose(s).
4 Inspect Radiator Cap - Worn or Damaged Radiator Cap.
5 Inspect Radiator Hose - Ruptured, Cracked or Leaking Radiator Hose.
6 Inspect Freeze Plug - Leaking Freeze Plug(s).
7 Inspect Intake Manifold Gasket - Leaking, Worn, or Damaged Intake Manifold Gasket.
8 Inspect Water Outlet - Cracked, Leaking or Damaged Water Outlet.
9 Inspect Heater Control Valve - Leaking or Faulty Heater Control Valve.
10 Inspect Radiator Drain Pepcock - Loose, Damaged, or Faulty Radiator Drain Pepcock, or Pepcock O-ring.
11 Inspect Engine (DOMESTIC ONLY) - Cracked Cylinder Block Leaking Coolant into at least one Cylinder, causing white exhaust smoke.

IF YOU GOT TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM AND DONT HAVE 50 / 50 MIXTURE OF ANTIFREEZE AND WATER. WATER WILL EVAPORATE BOIL AWAY.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS LOOK AT TOP AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSES LEAKS, CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND BOTH RADIATOR CONTAINER AND RADIATOR CORES LEAKING. CHECK WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE. IF LEAKING WATER NEED REPLACING, CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE ANTIFREEZE WILL LEAK IN CRANK CASE OR LEAK IN THE INTAKE GASKET COOLANT WILL BURN WITH FUEL.MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE COOLANT LOST.

Well there are only 3 things that could have gone wrong.

1. Radiator Leak - this means the radiator has developed a hole with via corrosion of the metal parts of simply integrity failure of the plastic parts of the radiator.
2. Hose leak - this could be a hole in 1 of 2 hoses that connects the engine to the radiator. Or it can also be a leak where the hose connects to the radiator (clamp Failure).
3. Water Pump breakdown - this is where the gasket in the water pump has failed and is leaking out the water rather than pumping it.

All the problems above has different ways of diagnosing. but we can probably narrow it down.

1. if the leak is near the radiator then it could be a hose connection, hose breakage or Radiator hole.

2. if the leak is nearer the engine then check the other end of the hose and if its not there then it could only be the water pump is leaking. You can check this if there are water stains on the water pump. The water pump on a 1990 corolla is mechanical turned also by a fan belt. Look for a pulley that has a hose connected to the radiator and that would be the water pump.

If you are sure the water isn't leaking somewhere - run the car stationary and look for spots on the floor - then is lost thru evaporation. Look at the caps of the radiator and the state of the expansion bowl.

SOUND LIKE RADIATOR HOSES AND RADIATOR.ONLY WAY TO CHECK IS FILL UP RADIATOR WITH COOLANT.CRANK UP CAR UNTIL WARMS UP.LET RADIATOR PRESSURE BUILD UP.THEN TURN OFF CAR.LOOK FOR WATER LEAKS AT RADIATOR HOSES AND AROUND THE RADIATOR.

THE WATERPUMP GASKET TO THE BLOCK

1 Inspect Cooling System Mix Coolant level low or flow is restricted. 2 Inspect Belt Incorrectly routed, adjusted, tensioned, missing, or worn water pump belt(s). 3 Inspect Oil Pan Gasket - Performance Ruptured, cracked or leaking radiator hose. 4 Inspect Radiator Cap Worn or damaged radiator cap 5 Inspect Thermostat Thermostat stuck closed 6 Inspect Fan Blade Broken, missing, or defective fan blade(s). 8 Inspect Water Pump Damaged, worn or leaking water pump. 9 Inspect Intake Manifold Plenum - Perform Leaking water pump gasket. 10 Inspect Cooling Fan Control Faulty cooling fan control or circuit. 11 Inspect Cooling Fan Switch - Radiator Faulty radiator cooling fan switch or circuit. 12 Inspect Engine Temperature Sensor Faulty engine temperature sensor or circuit. 13 Inspect Temperature Switch Damaged or faulty temperature switch or temperature switch circuit. 14 Inspect Fan Clutch Worn, loose or faulty fan clutch. 15 Inspect Ported Vacuum Switch Damaged, leaking, or faulty ported vacuum switch. 16 Inspect Radiator Obstructed radiator core or radiator cooling fins. 17 Inspect Head Gasket - Performance Head gasket leaking coolant into cylinders
