Dealer has fixed both fuel tank sending units, PCM. they said secondary tank had old scanky fuel and had not seemed to be filling. still haven't been able to fix the problem, as truck still runs out of gas after 25 gal (i track with with the fuel computer which shows consumption)
SOURCE: removing a heat-core
not only does the dash require removal, but you will also need to completely remove the hvac module assembly from the vehicle after the dash is out of the way. the module will have to be diassembled in order to replace the core.--hvac module removal will require ac refrigirant recovery and coolant replacement.--it sounds like a lot of work but should only take you about one good saturday if its your first time around the block.---good luck.

SOURCE: 2002 Chevy Suburban: Fuel gauge reads empty, tank is half full
Youre gauge is controlled by a plunger in the fuel tank which is attached to the sensor and the fuel gauge. it sounds like when the plunger goes down half way its either getting stuck down lower then it should. Needs replacing. Any mechanic can do this install for you.
SOURCE: Full tank of gas and getting low fuel indicator on dash
Bad fuel level sensor. Unfortunately it is located inside the gas tank. Fairly common problem on GM's. Due to sulphur in fuel. Corrodes the sensor tabs. Expensive to have repalced and NOT a do-it-yourself project, unless you have dropped a tank before.
