SOURCE: 1994 Ford taurus overheating, no heat...

when you replaced all of that stuff on the vehicle did you make sure that you don't have a vapor lock in the highest anti-freeze line? to fix run vehicle with line disconnected so air can escape then reconnect. if that dont work you will need to put a T splice in the top anti-freeze line so when the vehicle is running you can open the valve and let air out.

Thermostat is faulty.
It can be found by grabbing the top radiator hose and following back to the engine. The housing this hose is clamped to is the thermostat housing. Remove the 2 bolts, and the cover o reveal the thermostat.
It should cost less than $20 for a thermostat and gasket.
Replace it and your overheating isues will go away.

SOURCE: ford ranger truck overheating

I have had this happen with my ranger. Changed everything I could to try to fix the over heating. It turned out that I had a small leak in my head gasket and it was allowing exsaust gas to go into the cooling system witch was over pressurizing it. Also the air from the exsaust will heat up much faster than liquid making your thermostat to read hot and will not be able to blow hot air in the cab because there is no liquid going to the heater core. This happened to me when my blet came off and I tryed to make it home. If you had it over heat for a long peirod of time it may have ripped the head gasket.

SOURCE: overheating engine in 24 valve 96 ford taurus 6 cyl

the thermostat can be easily changed from up top, the T-stat is located at the engine end of the upper radiator hose under the flange the hose connects to. Make sure u follow manufacturer's cooling system bleeding procedures when you refill after the T-stat is changed out.

SOURCE: my car keeps overheating while it is idling.

If it's only happening while sitting at a stop light and idling, the problem is probably in the cooling fans. Turn your A/C on high and pop the hood. Check your cooling fans to see if they're running. If they aren't running, it's the fan relay. In my 99 Taurus, the high speed fan relay is located in a slim black box next to the battery, it's the large square relay right up front. Use a known working relay of the same size and pop it into this relay. If the fans turn on, there's your problem. Replace the relay. Try the same with the A/C on low, but this relay is in the power distribution box (number 31). The 2002 may have a CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module). The CCRM is an expensive part (over $100.00). You'll be able to tell because the CCRM is a very large box that is mounted next to the battery and contains relays that are not replacable. It'll have a part number followed by a large letter/number. You'll need this part number and large letter/number to order the new.

I have a 97 Ford Taurus I put Marvel oil in it you have been driving for 30 minutes now it runs real real bad lost power overheating and smoking

Umm...

Overheating is either a sign of a thermostat/radiator fault, a coolant leak or a leaking cylinder head gasket.

Smoking is either due to overfilling with oil, worn valve seals or worn piston rings/worn engine.

If the trouble started when you topped up with oil, drain the oil system and try a different oil.

Overheated, now won't run

Hi,
If the head gasket was blown by overheating, it could have ruined the engine bearings, which could keep it from running.

The car keeps overheathing then cooling off then overheating and cooling off. so on and so forth the fan works the radiator is good

Try changing out the overflow cap. Over time the seal in these caps no longer hold pressure and cause the cooling system not to be pressurized thus causing overheating and loss of coolant.

1995 Taurus 70,000 miles. When sitting at a light or what naught, the oil light flickers. Checked the oil, at full level. This vehicle has had it's oil changed every 3500 miles.

I would verify the actual oil pressure is with a "wet gauge'. The sending unit may be bad. I would also verify if it's idling at the right idle speed.
