2004 jeep grand cherokee in the winter when i hit a sprrd bump at any speed there is a loud clunking noise checked all front end parts and bushings
You must replace and lube the front sway bar bushings, chrysler service bulletin calls it a squak, but can sound like a rubbing, a clunk etc the common factor is this is really noticeable the colder it gets outside
My problem is not a rubbing or clunking sound, my 02 jeep liberty's front end on both sides literally slams to the ground when going down the road whether it be a pothole of a slight dip in the road or a speed bump. I've replaced shocks and springs and it still does it, i'm afraid one ay its going to falll apart

The 2 guys that posted it was the sway bar bushings were right on!! I brought the Service Bulliten to my mechanic. He still was hesitant, but I insisted. Called me a couple of hours later & said that did the trick! In the bulliten it says "squeak". Its more like a scraping/metal on metal sound. Thanks guys!!
I just replaced the upper and lower tie rod ends, Shocks and front end alignment. At my wits end i decided to look on line for help. Thank you all of you for your help. Tomorrow i will change the sway bar links and bushings and see what happens. ( fyi, this is what i thought it was in the first place but talked myself into thinking there is no way that noise could come from bushings.
Mike.
Check the track bar in the front end.
