Cooling fan not working
Sounds like the motor itself could be burnt out and usually when that happens u have to replace the motor itself....i actually had the fan stop working in a Taurus one time and i hot wired a wire from the fan motor to the battery and another wire to the "fan" on the fuse box (at the driver side) straight into a toggle switch i made into the dash by the steering column....it bypassed the relay and once i hit that toggle switch i would turn the fan on and off anytime i wanted to....if this is something u may try to do then it would save u alot of money and time with ur project....im not saying it would be successful in ur situation but i worked for mine....the only thing is, the toggle is ran off the battery and once u shut ur car off u always wanna make sure the toggle switch is off or it will run ur battery down....hope this helps and good luck

you need to locate leak coolant fan not going to come on if coolant low because the coolant make the coolant sensors tell computer to turn on fans at 190.F.sensor has to be in coolant.it act as a thermostat.you need to fix leak.or you will have engine damage.
SOURCE: Hello my 2002 mazda tribute heater fan is only
Its probable that if youre using no 2 and 3 and not 1 or 4 thats its worn out on these settings and you will need to replace the switch, its not the fan (obviously)and it does change speed so its not the resister, really looks like the switch needs checking and or replacing

Throttle cable could be binding inside the housing that attached to the throttle body. Also the throttle positioning sensor could be faulty as well.

Its the Blower Resistor....If it was the switch, it probably wouldn't work at all....But the Resistor will give you those symptoms, of working on high med or low

Start with the basics. could be something as simple as the fuse. I have a 03 Tribute so i guess it is the same model as yours! if so. The fuse can be found in the fuse box in the passenger footwell. There is a small inspection plastic cover in the kick panel. if you un clip the cover, on the reverse side you will find a tool that clips onto the mini blade fuses to extract them (very useful). Also on the reverse side of the cover is a list of the fuses and to what it relates. The rear wiper fuse from memory is approx a 1/4 of the way down the left column of fuses 10A but just confirm on the list. Mini blade fuses are usually coloured but transparent so you will be able to see if the fuse element is still in tact, but always best to double check with a continuity meter. Hope this helps. Simon.
