Your gas cap is either not tight or needs to be replaced. You have a fuel vapor leak in the evaporator emissions system.

This is by no means the only cause of the code, the gas cap is just one source of any leak that is detected.

Ok so I just bought a 2007 pontiac Grand Prix and this yellow check engine type light is on that has an exclamation point over it. What does this mean?

This light comes on to alert you to the fact that a fault has occurred in the engine control electronics. You must have the computer scanned to read the code that was stored in the memory when the light came on.

2005 pontiac grand prix just changed by pass coolant hoses and filled Radiator,Overflow with coolant now engine is hesitateing and check engine light is on.

Go somewhere and get codes retrieved and see what they are you could have bumped a connector or broke a sensor while doing repairs. Also double check did you disconnect any connectors?

2002 grand prix engine light flashing. What could that mean?

  • The check engine light means that the PCM has been sent a fault code from one of the many sensors. So the next step is to go to any major parts store and have the codes read for free. When you get the code you can find out what is wrong and how to go about fixing your car and make the light stay off again. Until you get the codes you won't know what is going on. You can post them here if you like and I will further assist you. It can be minor or major but you won't know until the code[s] are pulled.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Driving and check engine light flashing

The check engine light means the system detected something wrong. The next step is to pull the codes and investigate that indication.

The abs isnt working on my 1995 grand prix how do i check to see what side isnt properly working?

Do you mean the ABS light is ON on the dash? If so you'll need to find someone with a scan tool to plug into the car's computer. If you have an AUtoZone local they do it for free. The same goes for check engine lights. They will plug the scan tool in and tell you what the code is.

Did u have engine codes scanned? If not, have it done, as it may indicate the problem. Let me know. (most parts stores will scan for codes free) .
